External wall - tiling and coping advice required

Hi all, I’ve built and rendered a 4m x 500mm block wall and have also dressed an existing 5m x 650mm wall with wediboard. Both are now ready to be tiled. They will be topped with coping stones. Nothing is utterly plumb or level but I’m hoping that my DIY tilings skills (or lack of) can fix that...

    Composite decking help

Thanks so much for the detailed info, really appreciate it. That is actually what I’m trying to achieve. I have found some 3mm x 32mm self-drilling screws which would probably do the job to reduce the gap. The hole in my 3D design clip is also countersunk so the screw fits flush. As for the...

    Composite decking help

Narrowest lost screw head that i could find was still 3.5mm. Surely the diameter of the head would be the same as every other 3.5mm screw?

    Composite decking help

Actually I designed and 3d printed that clip, based on ones you can buy. I just needed to re-shape it to fit my profile. So I can actually edit it and re-print. The issue is, I wanted a 5mm gap between planks and the vertical part of the T gives me that. But the gap has to be wide enough to...

    Composite decking help

Hi all, So i was gifted enough composite decking to replace our aging wooden one. However, i’ve found that the edge profile where the clips go is different to every other type of composite board that I’ve seen (see pic below). Most boards have a square edged profile for those black plastic...

Spec me a decent pressure washer hose upgrade

This is the K4 Ecologique. So i guess the green hose was to indicate the green energy saving features (?)

Spec me a decent pressure washer hose upgrade

My K4 had a 5m green hose, it was robust but kinked up at every chance and was simply not long enough. Replaced it for a 10m one which was loads better, but still kinks a bit and i'll be giving it away with the K4 for my son. Karcher quality does seem to have gone downhill in the past few years...

Spec me a decent pressure washer hose upgrade

Hi all, My Karcher K5 arrives this week. It has a 10m hose but I’m expecting it to be as crap as the shorter ones they supply. Plus I want a 15m hose that won’t kink. I’d prefer one that has the correct Karcher connections rather than having to buy connectors, but let’s see what’s available...

Replacing wooden decking with used composite

Hi all, so an opportunity came up to accept some composite decking that we can use to replace our existing and tired wooden decking. I save most of the decking clips from when i dismantled it from the person giving it to me, but i cannot find the same clips anywhere on the t'internet. Does it...

    Restoring paint on car

The epic detailing channel is what lead me here tbh. He gives great advice, but wanted to get forumites opinions too. Thanks for the recommendation for the clay mit, I’ll investigate m.

    Restoring paint on car

Hi all, Is there an easy diy way to polish out scratches and bring back the shine as well as protect the black paint on a 2022 corsa. There’ll be no need to trash the brand, but if it helps identify the paint type/kind then there ya go. Back in the day I used black T-Cut but I would have...

Moving appliance when laying laminate flooring

All good ideas thanks folks. Someone else suggested using a couple of vinyl flooring planks (samples from a store cost about £3) I do have some air wedges which will supposedly lift up to 130kg each, so I might also try those.

Moving appliance when laying laminate flooring

Hi all, So I have to re-lay new kitchen flooring, it’s 7mm MDF laminate (yes it’s kitchen safe) to replace the 14 years old stuff which has eventually worn out. But moving the range cooker, washer, dryer, dishwasher and the American fridge/freezer is something I’m NOT looking forward to. So...

It’s 2025……spec me a boiling water tap please

Thanks guys, although you are going from "here'say" or "...from what i've seen". There's not a great to installing them so i'd do that myself. Waiting on people who have one to chime in :)

It’s 2025……spec me a boiling water tap please

Hi all, so found plenty of threads about this, but most are fairly old. Our kitchen mixer tap has broken and we were thinking of replacing the taps, sink and worktops anyway, so would like a boiling water tap that also offers filtered cold water (which most seem to do). I’ve watched quite a few...

    Insulating a conservatory roof?

Hi all, Came across someone who insulated and plaster boarded his conservatory roof. Form his picture it looks to be very similar to ours, so wondering if we can do the same. Had a few ridiculous quotes to change the current opal bronze polycarbonate into white panels for better insulation. As...

    Self build using shipping containers

Well this is what I’m trying to gather info on. Ideally I’d like to buy land. We’d prefer more land than building if ya know what I mean. Only need a smallish dwelling, but want enough land to put a large workshop on, which i’d intend to build myself (part of a hobby). Wife wants goats etc.

    Self build using shipping containers

Hi, it would be to live in. There’s plenty of YT videos of people who have connected a couple together and created amazing homes. I love that idea. Takes some imagination, but having base frameworks seems like a head start to me. Sure they need insulation etc, but again, if you look at the YT...

    Self build using shipping containers

Hi all, Has anyone got any experience with self-building using shipping containers? Especially on land in the UK? It’s something i’ve wanted to do for a good few years now, but no doubt there’ll be a laundry list of pros and cons, not least planning permission etc. Initials thoughts are that if...

    Loft insulation OVER existing boards

Also, is it a matter of “well any extra insulation helps”, or is it “unless it’s done right it will not provide any benefit”?
