    Problem with Central Heating

Hi thanks for the reply, i think the immersion works okay to be honest it's just that the British Gas engineer (couple of years ago) turned the programmer off at the switched fused spur and said that the boiler would heat the water in the cylinder much more cheaply and efficiently. I can turn...

Thanks guys for your time and replies. Not got a replacement room stat yet but intend to get one, it seems to work intermittently. I plan to have an heating engineer look at our central heating system early next year, Jan/Feb time and have it re-balanced, any air removed, and powerflushed...

    Problem with Central Heating

Thanks for your reply. We turned the pump down to 2 a few months ago (these problems were already ongoing then) due to it making a bit of a racket with the pipes, possibly a bit of air in the system? dont think pump likes that as water lubricates impellor. I think there is a 3 port valve...

    Problem with Central Heating

P.S. The house is approx 15 years old and i believe there could be sediment in the bottom of some of the rads and also in the hot water cylinder, when we used the immersion heater last week there was spluttering steam/hot water coming out of the bath hot tap along with bits of sediment etc...

    Problem with Central Heating

Hello Everyone, Okay firstly sorry for such a long post. I think we may have a problem with our central heating system. We have recently had problems with our boiler where the pilot light would only light but rarely actually fire up, on the occasions it did fire up there would be a...

bathroom taps - advice wanted please

Additional info: When the toilet is flushed the cold tap no longer makes the noise, i assume cos half the flow is going to the toilet, both are fed from the cold mains.

bathroom taps - advice wanted please

cant understand why when we moved into the house there were normal twist type taps and as soon as we changed them to a lever twist handle type tap the water started to whistle/make noise as it comes through, it only happens on the cold tap (fed from mains) the hot tap is fine and doesnt make...

Does anybody know how to get air out of....

...out of a central heating / boiler / hot water system, everytime the boiler takes in water it bubbles and gurgles quite badly, i definately think air is getting into the system somewhere but not sure where. Is there any way i can get rid of this? I know that the radiators have some sludge...

bathroom taps - advice wanted please

okay, when we first moved into our house we had normal twist/handle type taps and both hot and cold worked perfectly. we have since changed the taps to a lever type and the cold tap is now quite loud when the water comes out, the hot is still fine. The cold tap is fed direct from mains and i...

    Bathroom lights and extractor fan

Sorry pal, thought you were taking the **** out of the size of my box lol. Seriously though point taken, I will look into getting these fixed to the joists. I suppose if plasterboard ceilings were to ever come down then they would too (or just be left hanging there at least). Thanks again...

    Bathroom lights and extractor fan

I was thinking of fixing a steel beam (UB) in place to support them spanning from the party wall to the gable wall on concrete padstones each end, trouble is, I can't size the beams? Perhaps I need a structural engineer.... Cheeers Matt

Intruder Alarm wired to same c/breaker as lighting circuits.

Agreed Breezer. I have since bought a Yuasa 12V 2.1ah rechargeable battery and replaced the existing battery and so good so far no complaints at all. Think old battery was knackered to be honest, plus it was a 1.2ah not a 2.1ah. Incidentally the Yuasa 12V 2.1ah battery cost me about £12...

Well I've finally managed to do it chaps, it's working and all is well again in the world. Here is a pic: There is a choc box to the extract fan cable as I had to lengthen it. Not sure if i should have but on the other side of the choc box I wrote warning: new and old colours -just to...
