Bathroom ceiling : skim artex or ceiling panel?

Hi, sorry to drag this post up again. I am now ready to paint the ceiling. I was told I need to sand down the newly skimmed wall with 120 grit sandpaper. That seems a bit coarse to me and could end up with imperfections, should I use 180 grit instead or 120 will be fine? I was then going to...

Which grout sealer to use on new tiles

The fitter has just finished tiling the bathroom. They are porcelain tiles with Bal Grout. The room has got a bath with rain shower head. A few choices but difficult to say which is good Two sealants I have come across in the shops are :- 1) Fila Grout Sealer spray from Topptiles 2) LTP...

Bathroom ceiling : skim artex or ceiling panel?

He has now skimmed, though I am now left to finish the rest myself that is sand and paint. Not pleased about that considering he should have started the bathroom job with skimming so that its dry by the time he finishes tiling since I had already taken everything out and replaced the walls...

Bathroom ceiling : skim artex or ceiling panel?

So chances are that fitter is partially right about mould occurring, he just did not have a technical understanding why i.e. the space above may not adequately insulated .... assuming of course that the bathroom itself has good ventilation. After he skims, how long before we can attempt to...

Bathroom ceiling : skim artex or ceiling panel?

Hi, my bathroom is currently being redone at the moment by a fitter. My existing ceiling is Artexx and my thoughts was to have it skimmed. He said I would be better off using ceiling panel instead because no chance of it getting damaged with mould due to moisture. I then said well the current...

Correct external upvc sealant for gaps

Anglian windows installed my upvc double glazing over 10yrs ago. On the outside of the house, the sealant used to fill the gap between the window frame and the brick work has shrank over time. Please can you recommend the correct product to use for sealing the gap. Thanks

Keeping car off road temporarily without declaring a SORN

Yep same issue. Strange we keep using USA autocorrect on UK forums. It does not complain when I use tire.

Keeping car off road temporarily without declaring a SORN

Thought so as well. It needs 1 new tree and a drop link (from last year's advisory). If that's all the issues the I should be able to recoup all that back from sale

Keeping car off road temporarily without declaring a SORN

So from what I have gathered so far from all discussions, I have until end of this month to declare a SORN. This gives me almost 2 weeks to get MOT done and decide if keeping or ditching the car.

Keeping car off road temporarily without declaring a SORN

Road Tax expires 1st October. If that is the only automatic penalty then that a least gives me 2 weeks to sort MOT out. I may be wrong but I have a suspicion that only MOT is tied to Road tax renewal.

Keeping car off road temporarily without declaring a SORN

Mrs is getting a new car next week and her old car runs out of MOT next week as well. Road Tax runs out in October. My plan was to keep the car (mot, taxed & insured) for use with my existing non ULEZ compliant 4x4.... For now the car will be on my drive without MOT, TAX and Insurance till...

Can metal railings/fence be scrapped for cash?

I have moved them to the side of the house for now so could put them back up front. Can i get some money for it if I get someone to pickup from yellow pages for scrapage sale? Maybe enough to buy a bottle of spiced rum

Can metal railings/fence be scrapped for cash?

As title says is there a decent amount of money in getting rid of metal railings or it's just peanuts? I have just taken down the metal railings & gate in front of the house. Its about 1m x 9m in lenght combined. Cutting for disposal at recycling centre will cost me time and wasted Dremel...

carpet cleaning: Machine hire or Cleaning pro?

I was thinking of the time it will take to dry since we will try and leave the windows open …. I am guessing that the hired machines leave more water in the carpets than the steam cleaned carpets

I’ll try and get another quote tomorrow. I’ve only got this coming week to get it done before the weather completely changes.
