Ikea kitchens base cabinets have also non standard height size when compared to the well known high street names. This can cause problems with certain integrated appliances. The Ikea base cabinets have a height of 700mm whilst the others are 720mm so this normally means that if you have an...

    Kitchen Help Needed… Stressed Female!

Having fitted several kitchens over the years including a couple of Ikea ones they require no greater creativity in fitting than the ones bought from the big high street names. With Ikea the trick is to run the services either under the floor or at floor level and then pop them up at the...

    B&D Workmates

I bought a wickes tilt and clamp workbench about 7 years ago for about £15 for what was going to be a 1 off job but it is still going strong. Ok the work surface area is not very big but the fact you can tilt both sides up to 45 and 90 degrees independently of each other has proved to be very...

Big muddy hole - Part 2

Hi, In part 1 I mentioned I had water filing a hole I had dug in the basement. We believe the source of it to be from cracks and holes around our neighbours front door step and the guttering. (See photo) My neighbour has seen the problem and provisionally agreed to remedy the fault...

    A big muddy hole !!!!

Ok.. The water level in the hole is receeding (there has been no rain here today). I don't believe it to be the water table as my understanding of geology the water table only varies on a seasonal basis. As similar depth holes dug in the garden do not fill with water on dry days.

    A big muddy hole !!!!

"The water table is the level at which the ground water pressure is equal to atmospheric pressure." However if it helps the current level of the basement floor is about 250mm higher than the garden on to which it opens out on to and my garden does not flood.......

    A big muddy hole !!!!

Thanks Woody..... But knowing that the level at which the ground water pressure is equal to atmospheric pressure does not really answer my questions.

    Floor requirements for building regulations

Hi, I am soon to start work on converting my basement in to dwelling rooms. fortunately it does not suffer from damp as basement only covers the rear portion of the house and has a door that opens on to the garden. However the landing area at the bottom of the stairs has a height 1.8 to meters...
