Phoned the panasonic help line. The young person I spoke to didn't seem to know what I was talking about to begin with, but she was able to to offload the problem by giving me the addresses of nearby service centres. And yes, of course I have RTFM.

I am told that it is possible to adjust the TV volume to a 'hotel setting' so that the volume cannot be raised above a pre set maximum. Can anyone tell me if this is easy to do, or is it a service agent type job. The TV is quite new Panasonic TX-26LXD80

Many thanks for your replies chaps. Yes the standard TV socket is very close to the main socket. Sounds as if my internal system has never been connected, (properties about 4-5 years old). I may be able to do something to improve the terrestrial (RF)signals in the other rooms, not too bothered...
