    Reinforced Concrete Building problem

The base slab hasn't moved (it is deep and reinforced). It is still parallel with the main base but the side extension appears to have dropped about 5mm on its base pad on that corner. Yes kp00110, that is the type of building The back of the extension is still vertical as is the main garage so...

    Reinforced Concrete Building problem

It isn't a concrete sectional garage, it is literally a single casting

    Reinforced Concrete Building problem

I bought my garage 12 years ago from Jewel, who only operate in Germany now. It consists of two parts, the main garage and a side extension. I would emphasise that these are two complete castings. The side extension is five sided with an open end that butts up to an arch in the main garage. The...

    Old Bosch washing machine

Long story. We have had a Logixx 8 for some 13 years and never had a problem until now. It came up with F42 and an engineer visited and changed the brushes. He broke one but I managed to solder the connection. All was well for three washes. Then the rcd circuit blew. On re setting the washing...

    Another Pressure Loss

Defective Drayton valve. The soaked carpet hadn't reached in front of the sofa! System now working but the filling loop will need replacing as the taps are dripping. Such is life!

    Another Pressure Loss

Difficult to say as the pot also gets rain water at times. The level hasn't risen so I would say no. The pressure doesn't rise much in normal service. Having repressirised this morning the pressure has dropped to zero again, so I have called for the cavalry! Thanks, I've reduced the pressure...

    Another Pressure Loss

Last week I noticed air in the top radiator - about 10 inches from the top, so I released the vent valve and repressurised. At that time there had been a little reduction in the system's pressure. A couple of days ago the pressure guage on the Vailent 630 Eco Tec had dropped to zero, so I...

    Vailent Eco pressure vessel

Problem solved. Traced it to a leaking diverter valve. Won' buy Sunvic again.

    Vailent Eco pressure vessel

'Not normal for the EV to need re pressurising after a few months. What made you want to check the EV pressure ? Are you having some issue with boiler that made you do this ??' The pressure in the system had been falling when I had the boiler serviced. No water was found in the EV. The engineer...

    Vailent Eco pressure vessel

I used a tyre pressure gauge on the schroder valve with the pressure gauge display just above its bottom reading. It is three months, almost to the day, since the system was recharged

    Vailent Eco pressure vessel

I know the pressure vessel needs pumping up, but how often? The boiler was serviced in October and it was pumped up to 1.5 bar. When I checked it yesterday it was 0.6 bar. Does that mean it is time to replace? Is it a diy job for someone who is fairly capable?

    Vaillant ecotec 630 Plus

Fault slowly got worse so I replaced the pressure sensor yesterday. Problem solved. The old sensor had a grainy feel over the surface. I assume the tapping dislodged the deposition to allow it to work for a little while longer.

    Vaillant ecotec 630 Plus

I don't understand what you mean by 'the casing ...(i)s the room seal for the boiler' Tony. The underside of the 'casing' is a ventilated plastic cover. There is no seal. Obviously the boiler itself is sealed from the room and I wouldn't consider tampering with that. As to whether the service...

    Vaillant ecotec 630 Plus

I've fixed this fault twice now, just now and about two years ago, by putting a long screwdriver on the casting next to the sensor and giving it a light rap with a hammer. It seems to dislodge the muck (despite having a clean system) that builds up around the sensor. Hope it lasts another two...

    Motorised valves

I've had a Vaillent ecotec 630 system boiler for three years. The water has been getting dirtier and I've discovered a leak. The plumber is recommending replacing the three port valve which he says is faulty with two two ports as the system has 12 radiators, although most of them are on stand by...

    Vaillent 140 time switch

Yes it does but it doesn't work. I've since learnt that the switch also needs a VR65 control centre to operate. I had assumed that the switch was capable of sending instructions to the boiler and valve, and receive information from the boiler and thermostats. Ho hum..... Can...

    Taxi tyres

I ended up buying a set of Michelin taxi tyres. Had the option of King Pin remoulds at half the price but decided to go with the reputation. Had them fitted as tubeless and so far have been very pleased with their performance (over 30 year old worn cross plies) and the rims hold the air...

    Vaillent 140 time switch

We have just had a Vaillent 140 time switch fitted and an old Drayton unit removed to clean up the boiler as part of a Kitchen refit. What I can't find is any over ride facility on the timer. Is there any way of turning the boiler (Vaillent 630) on heat or hot water for just an hour when the...

    Taxi tyres

OE was 5.50 or 6.00 x 16" cross ply but the following year they switched to Michelin `X` radials. This was pre EU Empire so they didn't use metric or have profiles. Radial equivilent is 175 (ie taxi tyres) while high speed specialist radials start at 185 x 16. Does anyone have knowledge of...

    Taxi tyres

Thanks, I know there a lot out there, I was hoping to get some views on which to buy as I don't want to go sliding down the road on tyres that will last 50,000 miles. Do Dunlops grip better than Michelins/ Austones etc?
