cant fit nut to screw not enough room from bottom of bath to floor so is there any other way to fix it to bath (strainer)

the screw inside the strainer fixes to wast pipe to hold strainer in place

is it wise to fix in plughole by using silicone glue coz i cant screw plughole to wast pipe :?
