    Gravity hot water cylinder

Ok firstly we can only answer from our own exeriences and I can honestly say I have never seen an indirect (coil type cylinder) used on gravity hot water(you can but I never have). And as for having a primatic cylinder on a fully pumped system - well heres a link to what a primatic cylinder...

    Gravity hot water cylinder

But if you don't have a vent point on the circs then its either a primatic or an installation fault. By indirect you probably mean the coil type cylinder (which should have a vent point otherwise the circs could airlock) but don't forget a primatic cylinder is indirect. And most domestic circs...

    Gravity hot water cylinder

You can have (and usually do have) a tank in the loft on primatic systems. The way you would tell the difference - the easy way is to look at the sticker on top of the cylinder. Or you could look at the circs if they are 28mm and have no aav on them then they are on a primatic cylinder.

    Gravity hot water cylinder

No you can't reuse it on your fully pumped system if the cylinder is a primatic cylinder (as it will be on a gravity system).

    Boiler price?

At some point I'm taking out my Suprima and cylinder ( for space reasons - i'll get a cupboard back in the kitchen and more storage in the cylinder cupboard). And I'm getting a Potterton Promax 28 HE Combi (can get some of works discount and parts etc). It'll be around £600 for boiler and...

    RADIATORS NOT HEATING UP DOWNSTAIRS

Has this happened all of a sudden or after work you have had done? You hear the pump working but have you checked that the propeller? As for the two silver things these are 2- port valves. If once you've checked the pump is working fine go check on the 2-port thats controlling your central...

Suggest any good makes/models for cctv?

I want a cctv system in my house. 3 external cameras to give a good picture both day and night. Also I want a recorder that can transmit the info across my wireless system to my computer. Any advice on software for such a system would also be helpful.

    One radiator not working.

Has it been like this for some time? Or just recently after you've had some work done? It is on a drop (in other words the pipework supplying the radiator comes from above) these can sometimes airlock. Try turning off all the other working radiators by the wheel head (obviously while you...

    How much would you pay?

Thanks for your replys guys, I want to try respond to some of your questions. Firstly let me say this was just an idea I've been playing around with. It's not a feature on my site nor does it sound it will be (judging from the response here). Let me also say I am not looking to recruit people...

    Sealed System Pressure Problem

You need to know why the pressure was at 0 to start off with. If it's because you have bled the radiators in the past but not topped up then ok go a head and just repressurise your system from 1 - 1.5 depending on your system. But if your pressure has just dropped all of a sudden it's the...

Leaking pump part - do i just screw it tighter?

Hi Marios, yes you will have to drain the boiler either to repair or replace the valve. But that shouldn't take too long as it's a sealed/pressurised system.

Leaking pump part - do i just screw it tighter?

The part thats leaking is known as a A.A.V or Automatic Air Vent. You could strip it down and see if the balls sticking because of sludge or (and probably your best bet) just replace it. Hope that helps.

Potterton Suprima 60L, Central heating not working, water is

Yes he is talking about the brass valve that the actuator is sat upon. If you had a Honeywell V4073A for example you could isolate the valves around it (if your system has them) undo the plate that marries the head to the body and see if there is a blockage or more likely a swollen ball ( and...

    Replacement rad's

Never heard of someone ordering rads by there serial (its new to me), thats why your search results on the internet were probably ziltch. If you can't find the name of the (make)rad I would suggest uploading a picture so people know what you are talking about. I should image many of the lads...

    heating

Internal 4amp? Do you mean the spur switch in which case itsh usually 3amp. Are you qualified to touch a boiler? Messing with something that has gas and electric is highly dangerous, thats why we have strict laws in place. However I do know alot of industry qualified fitters who can put a...

    How much would you pay?

I am genuinely sorry you all seem to have taken this the wrong way. I was just fielding a question in a popular related forum. It isn't to setup "yet another paid phone line" rather a system of where forum members like yourselves could earn for answering peoples questions. They get a quicker...

HW & CH programmer fuse keeps blowing

That would be my suggestion, but remember to be careful it is 240v and that you only use 3amp fuses. It should be on a lead that plugs in (some older systems might not have the lead on a plug) so should be able to un plug that and see if everything is ok - thus proving the pump faulty. You may...

Steve32 is right, they don't have a pilot light (I assume she means the burner isn't lighting though).

    How much would you pay?

Thanks for your reply, not all information is available online. Usually only general information, anything slightly different can take forever sludging through the web only to find no results. And as for books these can sometimes be costly and not contain all the info you need - resulting in you...
