Replacing T&G floorboards - always lipping on one edge?

Hi all and thanks for the helpful replies. In the end it turned out that there were indeed inconsistencies in the machining, so whilst they were all identical thickness (and all thicknessed down on the same side) the T&G wasn't always matching up as well as it had seemed from my random checks...

Replacing T&G floorboards - always lipping on one edge?

Hi, Looking for a little expert advice if possible. Georgian house. Have lifted entire room of tongue & groove pine floorboards and am replacing them with reclaimed floorboards, also pine, and left in the room to acclimatise for a few weeks. I have run the reclaimed boards through my...

Will SMD strips overheat if installed like this?

Contemplating installing some 12V RGB SMD strip inside the front of a bullnose profile shelf. The shelf itself is some 4.5m long, and I'm looking to light about 4m of that as below (image shows cross section of front of shelf). I don't intend ever to have the LEDs in use for a continuous...

Will this cell pack fit my DeWalt battery shell?

Interesting info thanks! I assume this is to help the multi-chemistry chargers use the correct charging profile depending on cell type?

Will this cell pack fit my DeWalt battery shell?

Don't know, but I'm competent with stuff like this so either way am happy to post pics of the swap process if anyone wants?

Will this cell pack fit my DeWalt battery shell?

Anyway, onwards... Quick update for anyone in a similar situation. The seller did eventually reply with details of the cell size (43x23mm). My DE9503 cells match these dimensions exactly so I'm going to go ahead and try one. Will update once I've installed and tested. In the USA...

Will this cell pack fit my DeWalt battery shell?

You win the bingo for most likely smartypants reply. I have done my research on the cells used and (it is claimed, at least) they use Juice, Sanyo, Panasonic and GP cells. I am happy to take this at face value as the maker and seller is German as opposed to some anonymous Chinese factory.

Will this cell pack fit my DeWalt battery shell?

I have a pair of DeWalt DE9503 2.6Ah 18V NiMH batteries which are pretty much dead. Given the prohibitive price of new DW batteries and the questionable provenance/quality of generic replacements, I want to try replacing the cells. However... I don't have the time to sit and manually solder...

Earthing Q - new pattress won't fit original metal conduit

It's 3/4" conduit, so the 20mm knockouts on the new back boxes are marginally smaller rather than way too big. There was a pair of lock washers used on each entry, which I will either replace (if I can find ones to fit) or clean up and reuse. My original pic didn't show these as it was just...

Earthing Q - new pattress won't fit original metal conduit

Thanks all. Sadly not the case re the 25mm knockout - if only it were that easy. However that's a good point re trying a different make. I'd assumed they'd all be standard spacing. I'll take the old box along the next time I'm going to a big shed and see if there's one that's a match...

Earthing Q - new pattress won't fit original metal conduit

Again, no argument with that. My argument is only with BAS's direct implication that I am, in fact, a bodger. Hmmm, I get the why, but still in my view there was little need (on the available evidence of my original post) for the how. I manage to dispense advice in my areas of expertise...

Earthing Q - new pattress won't fit original metal conduit

Oh I understand BAS is 100% correct and have no problem with his conclusion, but it'll be a month before I can afford a spark to come look at it. I am literally broke from the renovation spending. Yes there were bushes, all firmly in place, and the conduit thread is in good condition - clean...

Earthing Q - new pattress won't fit original metal conduit

Thanks for detailed response. Pretty much as I thought. I did have a double converter on there originally, but wanted it recessed. Back to the drawing board, or, as you say, find a box that fits. A little less paternalistic/judgemental would be nice though. I'm not an idiot and I'm...

Earthing Q - new pattress won't fit original metal conduit

Hi folks, Read the wiki and searched the net, but can't find an answer to the following. As part of room renovation I'm swapping a single socket outlet for a double. Our flat is 1970's vintage and there's no separate CPC in the ring (just black and red wires, and each socket face...

    Swapping PIR for humidistat

Andy thanks worked a charm! Impudence I did check the wiring diagram first but I'm not a spark and wasn't sure which wire was which, given that I didn't want to wire it exactly as per the diagram. All done now though - thanks again Andy :) Regarding the earth - the PIR was originally...

    Swapping PIR for humidistat

Hi, Apologies for the lazy question. It's been a long day and my brain is fried. Feel free to tell me to bu**er off and find the answer for myself. We've got a single inline fan serving two internal rooms (WC & bath) parallel switched by two PIRs (one in each room). I want to swap the...

DeWalt 18V 2.6Ah NiMH battery issues

Cheers All - I went through the reinsert thing for a while with the one that's now not taking charge at all, and it's what I'm currently doing with the second one but I think the writing's on the wall for it too. Tbh this seems like the perfect opportunity for me to cut down to two batteries...

DeWalt 18V 2.6Ah NiMH battery issues

I've got three DW 18V 2.6Ah NiMH batteries that are around 6/7 years old but have seen only very light use. They've been charged maybe 200x max in that time. One of them has recently stopped taking a charge (rapid flash) and one of the others seems to be going the same way (charger only...

New wooden raised bed - advice sought re preservation

It's just the frame/carcass that's pressure treated as far as I know. The landscaper who built the bed recommended that I treat the exterior.

New wooden raised bed - advice sought re preservation

That looks the business cheers. Popped into Wickes on the way home (before I saw your reply) and all they had was water-based "one coat" stuff (and creosote substitute) that I could tell wasn't going to do what I wanted (or, in the case of the creosote stuff, stink to high heaven). If I...
