Immersion heater makes the water in header tank BOIL!

Just a quick addition to the last post : There is an adjustable thermostat on the side of the immersion tank set to 60 degrees C (its about half way up on the tank and towards the front) - Is that the one for the immersion element or would it be under the cap as most are? Thanks

Immersion heater makes the water in header tank BOIL!

Thank you for all your speedy replies. I wonder why the tanks are made to only withstand the lower temperatures when this is a problem that is potentially fatal?! Is it a big deal changing the stat? It seems accessible enough but do you have to drain the tank ? I am happy to get a...

    New electric oven & hobs

Ok im just installing a 13 amp socket running off the cooker point as Steve suggested. Can I run the 2 metre 6mm cable from the cooker point down under the shelf the oven sits in and bring it just to the front of the unit so I can get to the plug to change fuses easily etc ? And is it ok to...

    New electric oven & hobs

Thanks for the great replies...really helpful. The reason I mentioned the 'use a beefier cable' was because I was wondering if its ok to remove the plug off the cable and hardwire it directly into the cooker point? I can see there is quite a difference in cable size between the hob cable and...

    New electric oven & hobs

This is the specs of the hobs and oven: 4 x Hobs: 1 x 1.2kW zone, 1 x 1.4kW zone, 1 x 1.8kW Zone, 1 x 1.0/2.2kW Dual Zone. Oven : 2.4kW As I do not really know much about 'Diversity' etc. Could you tell me from looking at those specs whether a 32amp circuit would cover it? If it does...

    New electric oven & hobs

Hi, I have just ripped out some old worktops and replaced with new and at the same time decided to replace the sink, oven & hobs. The hobs sat on top of the worktop and the oven was seated into the unit below. They were both hardwired into a point at the back of the oven on the wall. That...

    HOT water from garden tap!!!

Hi, I havent been living in this house for long. I have just found what appears to be an outside garden tap but it didnt have a handle on it - this could have just been lost. When I opened the valve/tap with a spanner a load of gunk splurted out, then it cleared and now its warm/hot water, the...

Trianco 12/14 TRO Monoflame not firing.....!!!!

My boiler is working again!!! :) Had a really helpful, friendly engineer come out and he replaced the pump & nozzle for a nice price. The nozzle was all blocked up and even with a high pressure pump & soaking in boiling water he couldnt get it clear. The tank must have run dry & a load of...

Trianco 12/14 TRO Monoflame not firing.....!!!!

What could be out of adjustment? The photocell? I noticed it was quite loose when I first pulled it out. I then wiped it and pushed firmly back into its housing.....still didnt fire  If there is no spark, would I have to replace the electrodes? As soon as the 'click' happens...

Trianco 12/14 TRO Monoflame not firing.....!!!!

Trianco 12/14 TRO Monoflame not firing.....!!!!

Thanks for the reply Dick Puller (!!!) I am not sure it was 100% empty in the tank, but I had checked a week or so back and it was getting 'low'. My mrs feels the cold so it wouldnt suprise me if it had been run dry. It was foolish of me not to check before I had it refilled - lesson...
