Alpha CB28 Boiler - intermittent HW

Yes, it turned out to be the air-switch in the end, which I replaced easily. A local plumber recommended this as a possible cause. Hope this solves your problem.

Alpha CB28 Boiler - intermittent HW

OK, have now had the DHW diverter valve and the DHW thermistor changed. The DHW diverter assy was leaking, so it needed changing anyway. To start with I thought the problem of intermittent HW was cured - but no. Every so often the boiler fails to fire up (as before). Fan and pump are...

Alpha CB28 Boiler - intermittent HW

Thanks. You say it is an easy job to replace, can you tell me the basic steps to isolate the area from water leakage during replacement? Just had another look as the HW is currently working. Ran with the sensor disconnected and the pump ran but not the fan and the burner didn't light (as...

Alpha CB28 Boiler - intermittent HW

Are you saying this is the cause of the burner not firing?

Alpha CB28 Boiler - intermittent HW

Hi Folks, I have trawled the forum for an answer to my problem, but can't find the exact fit. CH works fine. HW always works when the CH is running. When CH is off (or not demanded) the HW works when it feels like it. Once it is running it stays that way. When it doesn't work and I open a...

    Cooker connection

Thanks TCC. It did cross my mind about the fault condition as I was writing the post, so I pretty much new what would be said about the cable melting before the breaker popped. Thanks for the cable suggestion - just the job. Alan

    Cooker connection

I am wiring a new built under oven to an existing wall connection point under the worktop. The oven is rated at 4500W max. Can I use 2.5mm T&E? Can a regular round equipment cable be used or must it be T&E? The circuit beyond the wall point is back to a 30A breaker in the consumer unit via...

    Cooker and hob wiring

As I was suggesting in my last post? Single cooker plate / single socket over 2 single boxes in place of twin box. I just wanted to make sure this was kosher with the regs. A twin box with mounting screws for two single items would be better but I don't suppose this exists.

    Cooker and hob wiring

Good point regarding the temperature effects. I'll stick to 6mmsq cable. Would another possible solution be to replace the 13A socket along with its flush box and replace with 2 single boxes (side by side) and then mount a single 13A skt to one and a single cooker outlet plate to the other...

    Cooker and hob wiring

Stuart - just noticed your suggestion for a replacement socket. Would this have an outlet for the cable? I'm guessing not.

    Cooker and hob wiring

Thanks for the quick reply Stuart. The socket is a standard MK 13A double. I guess the builders decided to put this on the end of the cooker cable so that the gas hob could be plugged in as well as the oven. The house is 6 years old by the way. The old single oven presumably drew less...

    Cooker and hob wiring

Hi - can anyone advise me on this. I am replacing a single undercounter oven with a double oven and an existing gas hob with new one. Under the worksurface is a double outlet 13A socket for the single oven and the gas hob ignition. The new oven is rated at 4.5Kw max so I will need a cooker...
