Plugging a Waste Outlet in Soil Pipe.

I'll do that then. I've tried enough force that the soil pipe is flexing where it goes underground and that's the limit of my risk appetite. Would there be any advantage to adding some silicone to the plug on the cap to assist the seal in the boss?

Plugging a Waste Outlet in Soil Pipe.

I've tried my best to rotate it but it's jammed solid. I thought of putting something in the hole to provide leverage but don't want to risk damaging the soil pipe. Any hints on how I might rotate it?

Plugging a Waste Outlet in Soil Pipe.

Thanks. I popped into Wolseley to see if they had one and they sold me one of these which seems to do the job nicely: https://www.wolseley.co.uk/product/center-ca2:b-abs-access-cap-40-mm/ It pushed in with a little silicone spray and definitely doesn't want to come out again.

Plugging a Waste Outlet in Soil Pipe.

Now you're talking. The pipe that's in there has been painted so very hard to add a cap but it should be fine to plug. Not sure why I didn't think of that after your first suggestion.

Plugging a Waste Outlet in Soil Pipe.

Thanks, unfortunately I think that is designed to be welded inside 43mm SW pipe. So wouldn't be suitable in this instance as I need something to replace the 43mm pipe.

Plugging a Waste Outlet in Soil Pipe.

I am redoing my downstairs loo. This involves moving the location of the sink so I will add a waste pipe boss behind the loo and I need to block up the old waste pipe feed into the soil pipe under the floor. I thought this would be so pulled out the existing pipe and put in a 40mm plug: The...

    Is this expanding foam?

Great, thanks for confirming. I'll stop worrying now. @ktuludays. It's at the edge of the room so you've possibly just answered our question about whether the cavity has ever been filled.

    Is this expanding foam?

We are currently getting our house rewired and found this under the floor boards. I initially thought it was expanding foam but it's very soft to touch. As soon as you touch it it crumbles to dust. Can anyone confirm that it is just very old foam and not something else we should be concerned about

    Replacing a pressure relief valve

Sorry, one more question before I go and call my plumber. Just confirmation that cold water supply to the tank is also considered part of the appliance. So I can work on the water system anywhere except between the first (black) pressure reducing valve and the outlet from the tank. Not that I...

    Replacing a pressure relief valve

Thanks, I didn't realise that I had to be. I'm sure you know the answer by the fact I asked the question. Does that also extend to replacing the cartridge in the pressure relief valve?

    Replacing a pressure relief valve

This is my hot water tank. The cold water supply pipe comes in behind the tanks and loops up and over to come in at the top of this picture. I think I am correct in saying that it has a 2.1 bar pressure reducer followed by an 8 bar pressure relief valve. The problem is the pressure relief valve...

Can I remove a block from an underfloor dwarf wall?

I think they might be set in cement. I'll get a pinch bar down there sometime and see what moves.

Can I remove a block from an underfloor dwarf wall?

I was worried you were going to say that. Most of the gap between blocks is only about 4cm wide, but I suppose bashing a couple of extra cms off the end of the block to get a jack in will be much easier than bashing the whole block out. Especially in such a narrow space.

Can I remove a block from an underfloor dwarf wall?

Thanks, That's what I thought. The strut idea is a good one. The joists centres are around 30cm so I think it's a touch too narrow for that to work and leave space for my shoulders. Do you have an idea for getting a block out intact?

Can I remove a block from an underfloor dwarf wall?

Our has has a one block high crawl space which I can access via a hatch on either side of the house. In the past I have managed to use to draw cables across our house from our router to a home office. However the space under either hatch is very small (about 2m square) and I would like to be...

    Does this joint look OK?

Thanks, that picture does look like an artwork. I'd want a glass fronted meter cupboard in my house with that.

    Does this joint look OK?

After looking at the meter set-up I assumed you meant me and I was thinking well yeah this is a DIY forum and I certainly wasn't being paid to fix my own pipe work... Then I eventually spotted the yorkshire fitting and have now learnt about street elbows. :-)
