    SKY Planner

When you record stuff on your Sky+ box, it records the data stream from the dish; it doesn't record the tv program as a movie or video file - it records the raw encoded data, and only decodes this when you play back the recording... This means that to watch anything you have stored on your box...

    Well done....

There's a kind of poetic justice to this story - the kid was on protest demonstrating against having to pay university fees. He's now going to be locked up for 32 months... just enough time to do a degree course in prison for free!

How to block out my neighbours' noisy bedroom antics?

Take the cover off and stuff as much of this stuff in there as you can, being sure to plug all gaps... http://www.wickes.co.uk/Heavy-Density-Insulation/invt/161189 As said though, blocking the vent could cause issues with damp in the chimney wall.

Cheers for the quick reply mate - it's much appreciated. Do I definitely need them tools? Don't have them at the moment you see... Everything works fine at the moment - no problems with the insulation & am pretty sure that my ELFI must therefore be within acceptable limits. Never done...

Sound proofing - 'sand plugging' vs acoustic mineral wool?

I've seen sand used as an in-fill in a ground floor stud wall, to soundproof a home studio, but never heard of it used to separate ground and first floor apartments... Could work, I suppose. I'd want to be very certain that the structure can take the extra weight, if I were you... what's the...

    Screwed or screwless?

Can you not just glue normal sockets to the wall & do without the screws altogether...? Best of both worlds then.
