Tried to trace the sound in the dark, but with no luck. the noise is constant and has not stopped for 2 days, it is not broken and continuous. sorry I was wrong the just checked and have no thermostat, it is only a water tank heated by elecricty (dont know what this type of boiler is called)

Thanks for your response. I only have one smoke alarm which is battery operated and don't think the sound is coming from that. I do have an old burglar alarm, but this has been switched off your some time. Nothing else battery powered and the boiler is an old emersion (spelling)...

Hoping someone can help. Over the past few days a constant high pitch beeping has developed in my house. I have no idea where this is coming from and the beeping even continues when all the electrics in the house are turned off from the mains (meter) Any suggestions? Thanks
