    hi, can i just say one thing here, i am a qualified carpet fitter of over 30 years and fitting of a H/S/L is not the easiest of jobs for a DIYer to do, and would strongly recomend getting a fitter in to do the job , more for the health and safety factor than anything .

    hi the reason for why i prefer smooth side up is that when using double sided tape it sticks better also if the flooring going down is thin you dont get the marks from the rough side coming through; hope this helps, gareth

    hi, as long as the two floor levels are the same then you will be ok, as for underlay use a minimum thickness of 7mm , 9mm is about the best all rounder, if you go for the thicker 11mm you will need to use long pin gripper gareth :)
