Great news, ask for a honeywell cm907/927 room thermostat rather a standard honeywell one, these slightly extra costs benefit you in the long term and if your getting a 250-300 litre hot water tank ask him if u can get a twin coil model future prolong yourself if you decide on solar panels in...

New Boiler Advice Needed Please - Ferroli?

You can mole instead of digging driveways up instead, it is what we would usually do to avoid disturbance but you would know about if you were involved in gas utilities. Worcester Bosch are not the be all and end all, they have clever marketing like Apple which makes everyone think they are...

New Boiler Advice Needed Please - Ferroli?

One other major thing you may want to consider which wouldn't be much of a hassle if you having to upgrade your water supply is installing one or more secondary returns set on a single channel programmer to give you pretty much instant hot water at your furthest taps. Before I left the UK I had...

New Boiler Advice Needed Please - Ferroli?

This man is 100% spot in what he says. Unfortunately you are in a predicament of the blind leading the blind. Although the outlay for installing a standalone boiler and unvented cylinder is more than a combination boiler the benefits massively out weigh that long term. Think when your little one...

    Replacement work van

If u want a van that will take what ever **** you want give it choose a sprinter, may cost more to buy but look at what a day off work costs for repairs, if u can afford it get the v5 or v6 turbo diesels cheaper to run with a loaded van.

Homelux membrane & PVA mixed with adhesive

It was a combination of things that made it not stick, I was using Bal Wall and floor powder but stupidly added a little pva, the thickness of it was probably not enough either as I said in the original post I had only used a normal trowel so didn't have any ridges in it. We did not tank in...

Homelux membrane & PVA mixed with adhesive

Cheers guys, well got there this morning and the Homelux matting had not stuck at all so didnt bother with it in the end. Bought some Bal APD on the way and just sealed the walls using that. I was not so conviced that hanging tiles on this matting stuff was a good idea as the matting...

Homelux membrane & PVA mixed with adhesive

I am a plumber by trade but am tiling my friends bathroom this weekend and wanted to get it right. 1. We asked Topps tiles for a membrane to seal the walls, I have only seen a product that you paint on applied before but they recommended Homelux membrane so we have that. It says on the...

    1. Don't know about this, only seen it coming off manifolds, can you not do this instead? 2. Most merchants have them in, if you can't find them think BES do them. 3. Yes I believe so with plastic 10mm, I thought it was arse the first time i saw it but thinking it isn't so bad now.

what causes motorised valves and pump to run when boiler and

Don't call an electrician, they usually don't have a clue about wiring central heating systems and make an absolute mess of it, especially annoying for fault finding! Call a decent heating engineer, get them to put in an LWC1 wiring centre and job done!

Strike one for the little guys

The thing I have found with BG guys is if they are one of the good bunch they can fix your problem quite quickly and competently. Why shouldn't they when the company backs them up with millions of pounds of investment in the industry and years of experience. The problem seems to be the...

Strike one for the little guys

Totally agree with that, its just the small minority of BG engineers it seems that let the others down.

    PRV location

Is the shower suitable for mains pressure? Could be meant for balanced supplies only. If you put it before the mains going into the boiler then it will affect your DHW and not the cold on the shower, if between the mains and shower then it will just affect the cold on the shower and any other...

unvented systems what do the experts think?

If you are going to seal the system, I would recommend changing radiator valves on both sides. Will save you a lot of time in the long run looking for leaks on the old valves.

Boiler replacement advice for my 85 year old mum!

How old are the radiators? If they are any where near as old as the boiler it would probably be a good idea to replace them as well. Another thing to look out for when getting quotes is you will get quite a good idea of what an installer is like by the quality of components they install...
