Painting Artexed Ceilings, Comes Away On Roller

That's a good thought actually. One of the ceilings was bare but the others were already painted, but I don't know if they were mist coated on the initial coat. So thats a fair point to consider. One of the ceilings was just plaster and then a coat (or two) of white emulsion I am guessing...

Painting Artexed Ceilings, Comes Away On Roller

Thanks for all the advice. I agree a large brush in future if in any doubt on the quality of the finish. And I also agree that the time for masking etc to spray would not be of any benefit (not that I have used the spray). Thanks again all, much appreciated.

Painting Artexed Ceilings, Comes Away On Roller

lol. I'm not having the problem on every ceiling job I do, but the failure of the current surface seems to becoming more frequent. So I was wondering if the 'new build's' I do sometimes and some (not all) seem to have this problem because they wack them up so quick ? I don't think it's my...

Painting Artexed Ceilings, Comes Away On Roller

Thanks for your reply Dec. It makes perfect sense now that you explain it. Is this just a trait of the poor building work of the last 10 years, we have to look forward to decorating for the next 20 years?! I've had this problem occur more and more recently on houses on estates in the...

    I love Artexed ceilings

I am a painter and decorator and Artex ceilings seem to fast becoming a pain in the (wherever you prefer). When painting the artex, the roller is bringing the artex of the ceiling back down to the plaster board, creating a difficult patch up job! It also then makes me very wary of...

Painting Artexed Ceilings, Comes Away On Roller

I'v had this happen on a few occasions on different houses that I have painted. Most are houses between 5-10 years old, although one house I did was an old cottage and that was paint on the ceiling cracking and bubbling rather than the artex. Ive been painting a bedroom ceiling today (where I...

paste the wall not the paper

I have always sized the walls and then pasted the paper, left for 5 mins while I pasted the next length, etc etc. However, I recently hung some paper for a friend and the paper said paste the wall..... Hmmm thought i should at least give it a go.... maybe they have changed over the years and...
