    Rsj on cavity wall.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I did, Apparently its years of experience - hopefully not years spent getting it wrong! I guess my main concern was/is the internal beam sitting on the very edge of the wall (internal cavity leaf). However the external sits on up to 300mm either end as that's...

    Rsj on cavity wall.

I'm a little concerned with my SE's beam calcs. We at building a 5m wide extension, at the back / end there is to be a full width & height bi folds. The floor / ceiling is to be continuous, my SE has designed two C section beams bolted every 600mm, now each beam (bolted together) are...

    Part E building regs Extensions

Hi I am trying to figure out if Part E (E1) applies to extensions. Me and my neighbour are constructing a joint extension to an existing 100year old property, building the partywall to a "robust detail" seems totally pointless when the existing house wall offers no real restriction to...

    32mm Mdpe to 28mm copper

Why do they manufacture 32mm MDPE without matching brass stopcocks surely 32mm to 28mm internal is a standard setup? Spec calls for mdpe in to tap and 28mm out cannot reduce prior to stop tap unfortunatly. Cheers

Method of supporting a Chimney Breast

The party wall is a load bearing wall, my proposal does includes steals The usual method seems to be gallows brackets bolted to the party wall which to me seem flimsy to support what is in effect usually 5 tonne the load of my chimney seems to be approximately 800Kg which I believe would be...

Method of supporting a Chimney Breast

I'm not sure of how much load is actually there without counting the bricks I think it is about 300+ the motor and pots. that allows for 20 courses of which I don't think there is.

Method of supporting a Chimney Breast

Hello I am considering removing the upstairs portion of a Chimney breast, it is shared with the neighbours who also want theirs removing, I thought about Gallows brackets but I don't think they will offer sufficient support to the remaining stack. We both wish to keep the stack on the roof...
