My 01 escort's power steering pump shaft bearings are shot. They are very noisy. if I run oil into the spinning shaft the dull squeal goes away for a while. The pump otherwise works perfectly. Any chance these bearings are replaceable. Shame to bin the pump as it works. Thanks

Thanks Matty. Took thermostat out today and put it in boiling water and it opened so I'm thinking it's ok. It's bizarre it just happened over nite or after I mucked around under the bonnet.

left the engine running on my 2001 escort running as I played around with it. Realised the fan wasn't coming on and it was by now almost into the red on the temp gauge. After trying to work out what was wrong with the fan I had to make a trip in the car. The heater which was working perfectly...

No idea when it was serviced. MOT was 3000 miles ago. Oil filter looks recent. Cleaned the wee sensors in the air intake by the air box and the car seems to run better. Too early to check fuel consumption.
