    It is against the water bylaws to connect any sanitary fitting to the mains water unless using non return valves. This prevents the possibilty of contamination to the mains drinking water occuring by 'back syphonage'.

    You should NOT take bathroom fittings off the cold mains unless there is a non return valve in place. This is a water bylaw. The reason is 'back syphonage' could contaminate the drinking water supply. Bathroom fittings includes, taps, shower valves etc.

    Steel baths take a while to warm up but once done so the radiate heat back into the water, especially when insulated underneath. Maybe you could batten around the edges of the bath for extra support. Ideally, the ledge of the bath would be burried into the wall by a few mm this stops downward...

    Sounds like its possible that the flow switch on the hot side in the pump is not being triggered? When you bring the shower head down further, there is then enough flow pressure to trigger the switch and you get your shower. Would like that clarified though...

    You can buy bathroom extractor fans usually in 3 flavors. 1. Standard - On or Off 2. Timer - Turns on with the lights and off 5 mins after lights off. 3. Humidistat - Turns on with lights and remains on until humidity is at the level set.

    If this problem has only just begun to happen, then it is the 'Diverter valve' In most cases it is very easy to get hold of a replacement spare part for it. If it has always happened, then it could possibly be the water pressure not high enough to keep the valve up.

    If you have replaced your piping with 1/2" piping and it was previously 3/4" this could be the problem. Also, bends in pipes are better to use than angle pieces as every angled piece restricts the pressure still further.

    you could use electric underfloor heating. As you are wanting to take the chill off the tiles on a cold morning its a great thing. Used with an electronic thermostat you can have it switch on at different times of the day so its warm for you when you need it. :D I bought mine here...
