What to cover inside of concrete window surround with?

Thanks for the reply. Don't know if you noticed the thread was pretty old. Since then we've actually had the windows replaced, so now have trickle vents providing ventilation, which has obviously helped. When the new windows were put in the trim they used to cover the concrete surround includes...

prepping and re-painting a rendered garden wall

Sorry, just re-read your post and realised you'd written "either" not "other"! Garden side of the wall is what was at one time a (small) swimming pool (this makes our garden sound much grander than it is!), so tiles over concrete that has since had a wooden deck built over the top. Other side is...

prepping and re-painting a rendered garden wall

Thanks for all the replies. I don't know if the wall has a damp proof course, but I'd assume not as it's just at the end of our garden, rather than part of a building. Brambles on the other side, then a small gap to a row of garages. I've not checked what state the other side of the wall is...

prepping and re-painting a rendered garden wall

Hi, I'm after some advice on painting the rendered blockwork wall in our back garden. The previous owners have tried at least a couple of times but, as you can see from the picture, they haven't been very successful. The top layer of cream coloured paint is pealing off in large...

Tiling for a corner shower enclosure

I'd rather avoid pulling the tray out if I can - it's only really a temporary(ish) fix. The shower is in a en-suite off the spare room, and we're probably going to completely re-do both the en-suite and the main family bathroom on the other side of the wall in the next 2-3 years. That's going to...

Tiling for a corner shower enclosure

I'm looking for some advice for re-tiling a corner shower enclosure. I'm replacing the shower enclosure, and when I started taking the old one down it became apparent that the tiles were very badly fitted and were falling off in places. I've stripped them all off and now need to re-tile. The...

What to cover inside of concrete window surround with?

I realise that, but it will form on a cold surface. As we're not in a position, at the moment, to do anything about changing the windows for ones with trickle vents to improve the ventilation I'm trying to do something about the cold surface where the condensation is forming.

What to cover inside of concrete window surround with?

But is there anything else I could use that wouldn't get so cold, and therefore wouldn't get so much condensation forming on it?

What to cover inside of concrete window surround with?

Our house has got uPVC windows fitted inside concrete window surrounds. The inside of the concrete surround was covered with PVC trim, which I removed when we were decorating as they'd got very discoloured and cracked. I'm now wondering what to re-cover them with. The problem is that the inside...

Rad pipes going through skirting boards

It already annoys me and we've only been in the house 18 months!

Rad pipes going through skirting boards

A lot of the plumbing in our house is rather dubious, but at the moment I'm looking at some of the central heating pipework. We've got concrete floors downstairs, with pipes running down from the ceilings and along the skirting boards. That in itself is not a problem. What may be is where it...

    Fitting new kitchen extractor duct

Thanks for the speedy reply. I did wonder whether I really need the brush. I guess I was mainly thinking it would make it easier to deal with fitting the duct, especially if I need to enlarge / reshape the hole through the wall, if I didn't also have insulation spilling out. To be honest the...

    Fitting new kitchen extractor duct

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum - didn't seem to fit any of the others. Our kitchen currently has an extractor hood that just recirculates the air, and doesn't do that very well. I'm looking to replace it with a new one that will extract to outside, but obviously to do that I need to...

Replacing garage window with door / window - advice please!

Thanks for the reply. That's an option I guess - leaving out the pillar, I just thought I need to attach to the lintel at some point, and that seemed an easier option than trying to attach the door or window frames. Thinking about it do I need to attahc to the lintel at all? Would the...
