As I said the whole point of all this thread is the chap I picked to do the job couldn’t issue a cert at the time so nothings has changed since ! I just didn’t know that when I stupidly picked him! Plus as you all have mentioned there issues to why he can’t test, hence there is no point in me...

I think you will find BAS that I did the options listed - I just didn’t do the option you would have chosen, but it didn’t know that at the time and if the options were so bad and not the best way to carry the work out - why are they even options that the council suggest there would just be one...

paul yeah thats still the bit im a bit confused about ? if i had told them at the start that the chap i used to fit the DU wasnt going to be able to get me the certificate (if i knew that) would they have told me something different??

hi I have had a quick chat to the council and asked them if my 120 pounds included them doing anything other than coming out to have a look, and they basically said no were not electricians so we don’t do the testing Just to clarify had/have 3 options really 1) use a registered person...

thanks again - im not going to ignore anyone ..... i think the chap that did the work is a non domestic contractor - and prob doesn't get involved with this side as much, but yep im not excusing the fact he should have been able to test it but like i say i didn't know this until it was too...

thanks yep - i didn't - but i didnt know he didn't have the equipment at the start ! nor did i know he would have been required to complete the form until after. i thought the council was goign to do this! cheers

Firstly, Thanks for all your constructive responses ! So as i understand it - im not likely to get a bs7671 installation form as the sparky doesnt have the kit to do it anyway and may or may not be the best sparky in the world anyway, so it may be best to just leave that one be...

Many thanks for this, this makes sense, i have no doubt that the sparky has replaced the board correctly. (yes i am not a trained sparky so how can i tell?) but its neat, tidy and i watched him do it etc i have seen it done before correctly as well. Your right i have paid 100 odd pounds...

Thanks for your reply – all beit seems more of a rant at me despite the fact, I have tried to do all the right processes as dictated by the council !!! you say this purely based on the fact he has no test equipment ? cant say I see that as fair, if he still is qualified etc I didn’t know...
