    Thanks for the reply ,looking at the image I have uploaded , can I remove the lower fuse box or should I just connect the wires in the top box and put a cover plate over it ? Do I need that fuse box for a single socket?

    managed to open valve , pressurised with heavy duty foot pump (thank you nogoodatfaultfinding for your advice) and hey presto , its works great and is almost silent , well see in the morning if its managed to keep pressure , thanks all.

    had this problem myself , replaced it with short piece of plastic pipe and two push on connectors , no mess or experience needed and also plastic pipe is cheap to mess u pand try again. This did make a difference as kink in pipe restricts water flow.
