Options to aesthetically improve a shower plug hole?

Hi folks, My shower plug hole is chromed plastic and (surprise surprise!) the coating is wearing away and looks pretty awful. I have NO access to the waste under the plug without significant disruption. The shower tray is tiled in place and there's no access from the ceiling below. Ideally, I'd...

Best solution for badly discoloured/stained lead flashing?

It looks good. There are a few houses of the same design on the estate with white windows and the white panel. The original timber windows had an arch at the top (see original photos above), so I guess it mirrored that. Thanks for the comment, by the way. :D

Best solution for badly discoloured/stained lead flashing?

Erm... in your opinion? Of course I'm aware you can get brown uPVC windows. I thought long and hard about switching to white, and even photoshopped the front and rear of the house before making a final decision. The whole house was earthy shades (red brick, brown tiles, brown front door...

Best solution for badly discoloured/stained lead flashing?

Thanks for the replies everyone, and apologies for my late response. It might well have been painted as there are other same-design houses in the area with the lead (and it IS lead) in much better condition. Thanks for the tips about the tiles too - I've been up there already (and all over...

Best solution for badly discoloured/stained lead flashing?

Thought long and hard whether this should go in Roofing and Guttering, but it seemed the most appropriate place. My problem is hopefully self-evident from the images below: horribly stained lead flashing. It looks even worse since these photos were taken because the tatty timber windows have...

Condensation inside double glazed sealed window

Just replaced all my windows to uPVC because a couple of the original 20-year-old timber framed DG units were misting up, but five of the uPVC opening lights in my conservatory were doing the same. I got the DG firm to replace the conservatory glass at the same time as fitting the new windows...

Help please finding patio door handle 92PZ-162 satin silver

Ah thanks, I wondered if a different handle could be fitted. So any 92pz handle would work (assuming the lock is missed by the screws)? Spindle size etc is standard?

Help please finding patio door handle 92PZ-162 satin silver

After getting new windows fitted this week I'm replacing all my conservatory door and window hardware with satin silver, but after exhaustive searches just cannot find a door handle that will fit. It seems to be an old size that is still readily available in white, gold (ugh!) or black, but NOT...

    BOSCH SGV53E33GB Dishwasher - fills/empties/fills/empties...

Quick update: By time I'd tracked down the receipt and managed to get hold of Bosch I was five days beyond the two-year warranty period. To Bosch's eternal credit they still agreed to action the repair FOC, and are sending an engineer out next week. Many thanks again for the reminder about...

    BOSCH SGV53E33GB Dishwasher - fills/empties/fills/empties...

Hello again folks - My BOSCH SGV53E33GB dishwasher is just under two years old and is used about once a week. It's just developed a fault whereby, as soon as a wash programme is activated, it continually cycles filling with water, then pumping it all out, then filling again, then pumping it...

Best treatment for internal solid oak doors

Yeah, and they were not much help. They just referred me to the notes that came with the door. I've had Fiddes 'Hard Wax Oil' http://www.fiddes.co.uk/content/hard-wax-oil.html recommended by somebody, and have spoken to Fiddes who say it is water resistant (its used on wooden floors and...

Best treatment for internal solid oak doors

This thread came up on a google search so apologies in advance if people might get upset at its age..! I feel the topic (and help) are still relevant. My oak veneered doors are currently being fitted (and look superb - thanks Wickes! Recommended at the price) but the recommended finish is...

Oak veneer internal doors - why 'stain only' finish?

Wickes were very helpful about sorting this out (although I waited five hours for a promised call-back), but annoyingly they don't collect and deliver at the same time, so that means two more days of time off work and hanging around waiting for their van to turn up. :?
