    Explosive boiler pressure.....help!!

Cheers all....called up Vokera & an engineer is out on Tues. They reckon it's a leaking seal on the inlet something.

    Explosive boiler pressure.....help!!

Is the fill loop the shiney silver tube with a plastic tap on which leads off the cold water pipe to teh central heating bit of the boiler and is used to top up the boiler? If so then it is closed (however it may have sprung a leak???). Sorry about the poor use of technical terms

    combi boiler hot temp/flow rate

I had this exact problem with my Vokera Compact combi - when you had the tap on a dribble the water was nice & hot, but anything more powerful - like a shower, caused huge temp fluctuations. Got installer back who found that a flow regulator was in the cold water inlet bit of the boiler -...

    Explosive boiler pressure.....help!!

I've got a Vokera Cpact combi boiler which is just over 12 months old but is under an extended warrenty. I had real problems with a fluctuating hot water temp. which was diagnosed as being caused by a inlet water flow regulator (???). THis was removed (looked like a tiny piece of plastic in the...

I'll pay money for constant hot water temperature......

Many thanks for the advice - hopefully one step closer to a normal shower!!!

I'll pay money for constant hot water temperature......

OK.....the flow rate of water from a cold tap is 25L/min. However I've noticed that when a hot tap is tunred on full the combi boiler seems to ignite, then turn off, ignite, then turn off so it seems that the water temperature fluctuations are caused by the combi not being 'on'. Could this be a...

I'll pay money for constant hot water temperature......

Cheers for the advice! Would fitting a combi-compatible thermostatic shower head onto the shower prevent hot water temperature fluctuations?

I'll pay money for constant hot water temperature......

The water from the hot taps is hotter but the temperature still fluctuates (from hot to very hot). On the technical blurb for my boiler is says that the maximum inlet pressure is 6.0 bar - is there any simple way I can find out what the water pressure coming into the boiler is?

I'll pay money for constant hot water temperature......

Hmmm...so it sounds as if the cold water mains pressure/flowrate & temperature during a grim Leeds winter is too much for my combi. Is there a 'thing' that can be put into the water inlet pipe as it goes into the combi that tells you the flowrate(by a gauge) and can be adjusted to suit the combi...

I'll pay money for constant hot water temperature......

Is 40L/min the norm? Still not sure what the prssure is but I've been assured by neighbours that it's high. I'm clearly out of my depth.

I'll pay money for constant hot water temperature......

I've been told that a combi-compatable thermostatic mixer will resolve my shower dilemma. They're expensive but it's worth it so we can have a normal shower and therefore stop my wife swearing at me when the temp goes too cold.

I'll pay money for constant hot water temperature......

Hi Kevplumb - ta for your previous help with my Led Zep pipes :) . Not sure how to determine what the mains water pressure is - when you turn on a direct feed cold tap it's bloody fast (fills my 6L toilet cistern in about 9 seconds). Unfortunately I'm also not too sure how to find out the...

I'll pay money for constant hot water temperature......

Blimey - if only everyone replied this fast I'd have my bathroom finished by now!!! Cheers for the advice - my wife will shoot me if I suggest having the combi removed (house was in pieces during CH installation). Could the problem be that the cold water coming in from the mains is just too...

I'll pay money for constant hot water temperature......

I've got a Vokera Compact combi boiler (12 months old) installed in a first floor room of my house. It's cracking at central heating (quiet, heats up dead fast) but theres a problem with the hot water. When hot water is run from any tap in the house it fluctuates between napalm hot & luke warm...

losing pressure on combi!! please help!

I've got a similar problem with my Vokera combi - everything was working fine (accept the banging CH pipes which kevplumb helped me out with...cheers!!) during the summer, but since the CH started on a timed setting it occasionally does not fire in the morning because of (apparently) not enough...

    A simple skirting board question....

Cheers lots for the tip :D - there is a 1.5cm void space behind the bottom of the skirts beneath the lower edge of the pasterboard so no nails would be of no use. I'll try out the battening next week!

    Combi/shower

If your cold water pressure is too high (significantly higher than the hot water pressure delivered by your combi) you'll get temperature variations using a standard mixer. A thermostatic mixer will cost a fair bit more - but at least you won't swear in the morning. Alternatively, a flow rate...

    noisy central heating

I've just had a nasty central heating banging problem that was solved using the fab plumbing folk on this website - go to 'pipes banging like a Led Zep drum solo'. All mine was was a CH pipe touching some plasterboard - I moved the pipe....no more banging :D

    Saniflo toilet

I had a Saniflow in my previous house - big problem happened one winter when the soil outlet pipe the mascarated 'stuff' goes down became frozen hence burning out the mascerator motor leaving me with a v. unpleasant 'brown soup' in my lav and a big bill from an emergency plumber. If you get one...

    A simple skirting board question....

I've just dry-lined/plastered/painted/layed a floor in my bathroom and its time to put on the skirting boards. The gap between the bricks and the inside edge of the plaster is about 12mm. What is the best way of fitting the skirts on? As you can see, my carpentry knowledge is a bit limited.
