peugeot 407 2.0 diesel sounds like a hole in exhaust

Citroen and Peugeot use the same HDI engines but I don't know if they use the same exhausts. On one of our Citroens the pipe got pin holes just in front of the clamp on the rear box. Unfortunately besides needing a new rear box, the centre pipe was needed as well.

Citroen Berlingo HDI Van (not starting)

Can you hear the lift pump in the tank when you first turn the key? You gotta be quick because it only runs for about 7 seconds. May help to hear if you lift the rear seat. These pumps sometimes go intermitent before finally giving up. A weak battery can also prevent prompt starting...

    Which credit card

I have two - both of which I pay off monthly so I don't pay any interest charges. One of them I use for online purchases and I purposely have a low maximum limit on it so that any fraudulent transaction will be small. The other card is a Tesco Mastercard and on every card purchase I get...

    Rusted old wrecks

Also used in early Transits. Although the Tranny I had was fitted with the first of the York engines. No glowplugs. Only a reservoir of diesel oil which when a button on the dash was pressed, diesel trickled onto a heater element in the air intake. When the oil was burning nicely, the...

Teach sacked for showing some kids a good time.

Such a paltry misdemeanor - I can't help but wonder if someone in management wasn't looking for an excuse to 'put the knife in'.

    Oil price rant

It can probably develop the same fungus that appears in a stale diesel tank. Looks like a brown furry sludge. Google "Cladisporium Resinae" and it'll tell you that it appears in the fuel when a small quantity of water is present.

    Peugeot 206

The HDI engine has hydraulic tappets which would take up any slack in adjustments. Noise could come from a malfuncunctioning injector but could also be the first signs of the bottom pulley starting to breakup. Get it checked ASAP because if it lets go, it can cause the cambelt to snap.

    My Van's first MOT....

IMHO anything that's a fail on the MOT won't be covered on warranty. Almost everything that would fail a vehicle is down to wear & tear. Any warranty work should have been picked up at service time.

    Relative Humidity

I think you're worrying unnecessarily. I have two hygrometers in the house and one of them has a "normal" range marked on it as being from 45 to 70%. At the moment one in the lounge is reading 75% but I'm not surprised because the density outside is currently 93%. It's chucking it down...

    University For All ??

That's right! Most of those that go on to do a Masters degree will already have got a first. Many will also have been working for a year or two and then they have to finance the Masters course themselves - or get an employer to sponsor them.

    University For All ??

I'm sure the business world is aware of today's worthless degrees so they fix their minimum standards to meet their requirements. These days a BSc can be had comparatively easily so all the companies in my youngest daughter's profession requires a Masters from applicants.

    University For All ??

Talking of useless degrees, how about enrolling at Staffordshire University and going for a degree in David Beckham studies – or if you fancy spending some time in Brighton, they do a two-year "Street Arts Performance" course where you can study juggling.

    A Blonde (joke)

Great! Two girls were speeding down the motorway at 90mph. "Hey," asks the brunette at the wheel, "do you see any cops following us?" The blonde turns around. "As a matter of fact, I do." "Damn!" curses the brunette. "Are his flashers on? The blonde turns around again...

    A Blonde (joke)

A blonde young woman who had been out of work for some time was walking through a luxurious neighbourhood looking for some odd jobs to do when she approached a large house with a long drive, where the owner's luxurious car was parked. She went up to the house, rang the bell and the owner came to...

    What's the best Anti-virus software?

I would have agreed with you a couple of years ago but they seem to have changed now. I use Norton simply because one of my daughters has bought me the triple pack every Christmas for years and I can't fault it.

    University For All ??

You could also have said "LIKE WE USED TO HAVE". I'm old enough to remember when Secondary schools did subjects like Needlework and Cookery and Woodwork and Metalwork. Not every boy or girl can shine at academic work but many like using their hands. It was a sad day when they took the...

uPVC door latch handle down and stuck

If there's a strip of metal down the edge where the bolts are, it's probably in need of some lubrication. You could try some WD40 followed by some spray grease.
