Just as an update to this. Nothing changed with my wiring. I just didn`t "click" the back plate on correctly so now I did and all is running ok. So, for any others looking at this, for my setup, I needed to link L and 1 on the Hive receiver back plate. Thanks for the advice and confirmation...

Old controller is back on and everything working ok. I`m going to try again tomorrow.

Just wondering, I assume link wire between L and 1 is needed (as this was set up on the original connection)???

There are no other components i.e timers, controller etc.

The power is only "off" on the thermostat controller (i.e. in a state where it is not supplying power to the UFH) and not by any isolation switch. And so, when the RCD trips, the whole thermostat is isolated. Thanks

Sorry, to be clear the RCD supplies the thermostat that then supplies the UFH.

Could this be on the non load side or load side or both?

No. It`s definately coming from the alarm panel and it`s never been (not even sure if it`s capable of) being attached to a smoke alarm so it`s not that.Thanks for the suggestion BTW
