precast flue / metal chimney problems

The stain is a very distinctive wide 'n' shape which exactly corresponds with the top of the flue location. Spent the last 30 minutes in the attic & managed to get to the flue. The metal top of the flue that goes through the roof does not join in with the concrete top section to the flue...

precast flue / metal chimney problems

Hi, Got a precast flue that is no longer used. The fireplace has plasterboard over it. Not had a problem in the last 4 + years. The metal bit of the flue is right on top of the precast and goes through the roof right next to the guttering. Today found a bit of damp in the bedroom wall right...

how reliable are easy clean egress hinges?

Looking at fitting some side hung easy clean egress hinges but i'll be just outside the manufacturers spec on width (20mm too wide) but easily under on height (about 250mm under). Do you think i'll have problems? How reliable are these hinges compared to normal egress hinges?

The other poster may not thank you - but i have. So, back to the original question and after fitting the lounge cabinets it looks like the sockets will actually be an acceptable height so its just a like for like cable replacement. It seems the spring connectors are the fastest solution...

Replacing damaged cable - crimp or ????

I've looked at this and had the same worry, then read some more (i'm not a spark so i don't really know what i'm talking about). The 32 amps is supplied via a ring of two 2.5 mm cables. Each cable in itself can't deliver 32amps hence its important the ring isn't broken. One cable (normal twin...

Replacing damaged cable - crimp or ????

Hi, After a less than impressive performance by a company replacing my boiler and doing some electrical work i'm now sorting out the mess left behind. The spark added a socket as requested. To do this he split the ring main in the floor space using chocboxes and extended the cable (and...

Mistake on domestic installer certification? what impact?

Just got my domestic installer certificate back and there may be a mistake on it (ignoring the bits he's overwritten as he got it wrong the first time he wrote it). Page 3 lists the different circuits, for the number of points served he's listed the number as 18. Is this the actual number...

Do I need a new CU when upgrading my boiler in the kitchen?

Thanks for the help guys, LCB = www.locostbuilders.co.uk, its a site for people building their own cars. Lots of people build cars from kits, but lots of others (me included) are building them from scratch. It does seem that almost any question can be asked on that forum and an answer is...

Do I need a new CU when upgrading my boiler in the kitchen?

I believe totals - there was no suggestion that i need to buy bits on top of the extra 330 or 160. i'm just worried that the additional charge has appeared and i'm being ripped off + if he does the job how do i know he's doing a good job / doing what he's supposed too. edited to add, the...

Do I need a new CU when upgrading my boiler in the kitchen?

The house was built in 1989 - it doesn't have a separate kitchen MCB. I just have a ring main that has everything on it. I do have a cooker circuit that is separate on the CU. I think what you're suggesting is the 160 pound option he gave me.

Do I need a new CU when upgrading my boiler in the kitchen?

Hi, Been recommended to ask a question on here from another forum. I'm having my boiler upgraded to a vaillant combi and moved about 8 feet along the kitchen wall. Got an estimate for the work (i asked for a quote and only realised it was an estimate two weeks after paying the deposit)...
