    Confirming planning permission/no completion certificate

Got it, thanks very much. Yes, I see what you mean about confusing planning and BC. So it looks as though planning was granted in '97 and the work actually went ahead in '99. BC have commencement recorded but not completion, so the local search point makes sense. Googling/speaking to my...

    Confirming planning permission/no completion certificate

Sorry, I thought the context would help. 1. If someone applied for and was granted planning but never went ahead with the work, could that cause a lack of building control completion cert. to show up on the local search? 2. Could I go and view the original plans at the planning office...

    Confirming planning permission/no completion certificate

Firstly, apologies for my complete lack of knowledge on any of the below: I am trying to buy a house which was extended in the 1990's (by the predecessors to the current owners). Effective a two storey extension was added, doubling the kitchen size and adding a bedroom above. My solicitor...

Close boarded roof needing re-tile...remove boards first?

Thanks chaps. I spoke to a roofer today who's also going to quote, and he asked what sort of tiles I want. He suggested that for a cost-effective alternative to a clay plain tile (but which still looks in keeping), we could go for a concrete lookalike. Any pros or cons you're aware of...

Close boarded roof needing re-tile...remove boards first?

I'm in the process of trying to buy a 30's house with a close boarded roof, which the survey has reported needs re-tiling. The surveyor seemed to think it would just be a case of stripping the existing tiles, putting sarking felt over the boards, and adding batons and tiles, which he guessed at...

    30's roof lined inside?

Thanks both. I've heard of delamination...could this be the reason for all the dust (if it is problematic)?

    30's roof lined inside?

Thanks, well at least it doesn't sound completely irregular! I've attempted to add a couple of pics: This is the boarding between the rafters (also looks like a new purlin?) These show the dust/flakes: Finally, this gives some idea of the roof in general: Thanks again.

    30's roof lined inside?

Apologies before I start, I know nothing about roofing. I'm looking at buying a medium sized 30's house which looks to be in good nick, possibly excepting the roof. The tiles look pretty old (original?), there's definitely some guttering which needs emptying/re-routing to stop water pouring...
