Thought I would post an update out of courtesy. The electrician came while I was in work so I didn't get chance to speak to him. He fixed the lights and the extractor fan, but he said the mirror was to blame and was faulty!? I believe he has disconnected it, but I haven't been in the attic yet...

I havent done anything new since the bathroom was fitted. No alterations no pictures or anything. I think I have so far eliminated the fan as the fault (disconnected). And I believe I have eliminated the mirror as the fault too (switched off)? I guess that leaves the lighting, the RCD or...

That sounds like logical advice thanks, I may try that tomorrow. Or I might leave to the expert? What I don't understand is why a neutral to earth fault would just happen (if it is that)?

I have tried the light pull cord twice as I did not know if it was left on or off and both options tripped the RCD. The mirror cabinet has a switch in it so I have switched this to off and it still tripped the RCD. Yes the mirror cabinet door has a de-mister. And as previously mentioned I have...

Are CPN susceptible to fault? Could it be a simple case of replacing RCD? What would cause it to fail? Is there a better recommended brand? I would like this to be the answer to my problem :-)

Sure enough - having removed the cover, the plastic clamp you mention has indeed cracked. Looks like I will need to invest in some STAR shaped screw bits too. Thanks for the advice. :-)

Thanks for the reply. The shower wasnt running - but water was just gushing out of the bottom of the box for some reason!? I had to turn the water supply off to stop it. So would a new solenoid and PRD be straight forward to replace? Any ideas what I need to order?
