    Boiler noises

I am just wondering how loud combi boilers are supposed to run? I can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere. Ours is in the kitchen and you can hear it all over the house, at night if it comes on the best way I can describe it is similar to an aeroplane. Surely boilers aren't...

    Water hammer/low pressure

Sorry for the gap between posts, but just wanted to say thank you for the replies and to Charnwood/Andy for the vid link, that was very helpful and I tightened the gland nut which seems to have helped, I may still re-pack it though to be extra sure! Still need to sort the water hammer issue...

    Water hammer/low pressure

Thanks for the replies Yes it is a replacement shower (the same 8.5kw) on existing pipework, so I'm unsure if it is to do with this or not. I am wondering if the problem might lay at our stop cock as there is a slight leak coming from it when it's slightly open, but fine when fully open, I...

    Water hammer/low pressure

Hi all, We have recently had a new electric shower fitted. However since turning the water back on, there is a knocking sound (which I assume is water hammer) whenever we turn the kitchen tap off, but the shower pressure is fine. However if we turn the stop cock off slightly the hammer goes...

Hot water takes a while to come through tap

Thanks for your replies guys Yes there is a pipe going from the boiler to the sink. Regarding Pre Heat, I read about the pre heat every 90 mins, but I have not noticed it saying anything different on the display, when the heating is off I have not noticed it firing up or doing anything -...

Hot water takes a while to come through tap

Yes we have put Pre Heat on and its not making much of a difference, if at all, should we be able to hear it fire up every so often with this mode on? As I haven't heard anything when at home since Pre Heat has been on. Yes we had the tank and immersion heater removed, the central heating...

Hot water takes a while to come through tap

Sorry! Its an Ideal Logic+35 I heard the opposite, that you should turn the tap on full to get water hotter quicker, but this was for a much older combi boiler. Either way, I have tried both and still takes a while (or longer than I hoped it would anyway!)

Hot water takes a while to come through tap

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could give me any idea as to why my new combi boiler takes a while to heat up water? I have to pretty much fill a whole bowl of water for washing up before it gets hot. When it does get hot it is nice and hot, but it's just the time it takes to reach this...

Radiators cool down but boiler stays on?

Yes I am going to, I just wanted to try and arm myself with info so I don't sound completly clueless to them lol Is it usual for a boiler to stay running (it says 'pump overrun') after radiators have cooled down? As with my mums boiler it clearly clicks off as soon as the required temp is...

Radiators cool down but boiler stays on?

Hi, We have just had a new Ideal Logic boiler fitted, and I am a bit confused about somenthing. We set it to come on for a certain amount of time, it fired up at the time set, radiators heated up fine, then a little while later when the temperature was reached, the radiators cooled down, and...
