    Power Steering problem

This is a common problem that is still evident in the Meriva's. The EPS (electric power steer) column is buggered more than likely. We paid £1300 to have a new rack and column put in our 2005 Meriva. Even a non PAS car is relatively easy to turn. When the EPS goes it's a pain in the...

    fairy (or screenwash)

Tesco do a 1.5 litre for not much more than a pound. It might be their own branded stuff but it's got good alcohol content and cleans smear free. Been using it for the past year or so mixing it around 20% and increasing it to around 30% in winter. Washing up liquid is crap in my...

    pricing as a novice

Sorry! It's me who read it wrong. £100 would be a fair enough price for a complete hallway. Walls and ceiling. Reminds me I need to get my plasterer to patch in where the missus came through the attic once he's done dashing my new wall!

WANT TO OPEN OUT CHIMNEY FOR A WOODBURNER

How much bigger are you going? Cut a track/box section out and fit your own lintel. When it's set track your opening below and kango it out. Has that chimney been reflued or are all the block like that?

    pricing as a novice

£100 would be a decent days wage for an experienced plasterer here and I'd hope he'd do more than just skim one ceiling in a day to be honest.. I'm not sure what the going rate is over the water and how much an average plaster would do in a day though. And remember it's a recession so good...

Adding external flood with PiR to existing light wiring

The flood light came from my garage which I replaced with a flood only. No PiR Lamp worked fine and wasn't fingered. 8) I tried a new lamp that came out of the new flood I put on the garage. Again I removed and held it by the ceramic end. Lamp were as supplied with flood light. Both...

    concete section of drive

Order premix. Why you would want to mix about 15 mixers loads by hand is beyond me! You would need a lot of sand, gravel and cement. Plus you're not goin to know what strength you have either. Less work and time to get it in a lorry too.

Why is plasterboard cut off like this (see image) ?

Dry lining is fine but a plastered finish is 10 times better. I'd spend the extra £50-60 first and get it bonded and skimmed. At least you don't have the fear of it not taking to the old plaster if you have fresh boards on.

Adding external flood with PiR to existing light wiring

Hi, My existing back door light is fed from 1 switch and is the only light coming from it. It's one of those standard rectangular disfused lights. I wanted to add a flood with PiR to it and what I've found is the lamp keeps blowing on the flood when I turn it on. What I did was to...
