Hi,

My existing back door light is fed from 1 switch and is the only light coming from it.
It's one of those standard rectangular disfused lights.

I wanted to add a flood with PiR to it and what I've found is the lamp keeps blowing on the flood when I turn it on.

What I did was to remove the existing light cover. Connected a length of 3 core to existing wire. E to E, L to L and N to N. Then I ran the wire 3 foot to my flood and wired that the same....

Have I did something wrong or why am I poping lamps?

Thanks in advance.

Have you touched the lamp with your bare fingers?

Have you double checked the lamps are the correct voltage rating?

Did you spend less than 7p at the market for your lamps?

The flood light came from my garage which I replaced with a flood only. No PiR
Lamp worked fine and wasn't fingered.

I tried a new lamp that came out of the new flood I put on the garage. Again I removed and held it by the ceramic end.

Lamp were as supplied with flood light. Both went on and for a bit them popped.

Was going to try an energy saving one I have but it was to bulky to fit in the housing.

Sorted.
Reconnected 3 core to old light to make sure all connections were secure and also checked lamp holder prongs on new flood.

Working fine now so happy days.
