    Can't refill Vaillaint ecotec

The system at my new house was drained and now I can't refill it. The Ecotec pro hasn't got the handles underneath, but I used a screwdriver to turn the valves. I tried them all (except gas) - in pairs - as I know you have to do 2 together - but no joy. No filling sound or increase in...

I think they're lighting, certainly one or two are, but I haven't followed them all. And given the state of this (and how the rest of the house was) I don't really want to rely on that :-/ PR

Thanks for the steer guys. I'd love to get a PIR but money's a bit tight at the mo :-( Is a terminal strip different to a connector strip- i.e. each connector is insulated from the next? Would I have to add little loops of wire to connect each one? Also, as I don't know what the wiring...

Right, here's some images of the existing set-up... as you can see (possibly not very clear) the existing earthing set-up is just 8 earth wires twisted together in mid-air. I was hoping to actually make it safer (not less safe) by putting them all to one of these...

Hi all, I can't afford an NICEIC electrician, so please consider the following hypothetical situation. I have a really old junction box in the loft, with 8 different sets of old wiring (red, brown, black) going into it. I want to tidy this up a bit, and having carefully made a note of what...

vaillant - which tap to open?

Hi, I've a vaillant ecotec plus 831 - need to increase pressure in system (had to cut the bottom out of my cupboard to get to the taps). Picture below. http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/6144/boiler.jpg Question is which tap(s) to turn on to increase the pressure. Top of picture is front...

    CCU vs DP switch

Calm down dear. Someone else installed it as part of a big rewiring job. I just wanted to check what the difference was. PR

    CCU vs DP switch

Thanks. So, the single-gang 'CCU' I've had installed is probably just a 45A DP switch anyway. Heh. Cheers, PR

    CCU vs DP switch

Hi, Probably a silly question, but what's the difference between a 45A Cooker Control Unit and a 45A DP switch? Are they interchangeable? Thanks, PR
