Conservatory on raised platform - do I need planning permission?

My house was built in the 1980's. For some reason the first two houses of the terrace are raised up and are around a metre higher than the others. I understand that the a single-storey conservatory maximum height is four metres but where is that measured from? Is it measured externally from...

Possible tax dodge - is it legal?

You paid by BACS which is much safer for me than cash. I'm dealing with a recommended local company rather than a giant like Anglian or Everest. I won't get an Invoice from the builder for his work which worries me slightly. If I pay cash and I have a problem, who would be liable?

Possible tax dodge - is it legal?

I got a price for a new conservatory which was 16K. The conservatory company don't do the groundwork; they get a builder they know to do this. Their Invoice to us will show 12K and we have been asked to pay 4K to the builder in CASH after he has completed the groundwork. It is done this...

Conservatory quote to knock through and make kitchen diner

I have just been to see a local supplier who is coming round to quote for a new Conservatory. The conservatory would be joined to the kitchen which currently has external windows and a door. He mentioned that it would be possible to knock through and make one big kitchen diner. By this he...

No hot water from Worcester 25Si COMBI

As I found out, you need to test and record the flow rate from the taps. The 9 litres / minute is not a great deal. Exactly what is it? I found that I was forcing too much water through the boiler. After I adjusted it, I got hot water again.

No hot water from Worcester 25Si COMBI

Okay, well I found the answer. My fault... When I was referring to the flow rate in my earlier post, I took this from my installation notes which showed 5 litres / minute. I've just tested and found a staggering 16 litres / minute which is way past the maximum 9 litres / minute limit...

No hot water from Worcester 25Si COMBI

This is a Greenstar 25Si boiler. In response to boilerdoktor: 1. There is no pre-heated water as I have Hot Water off and I'm running in Eco Mode. 2. When it goes lukewarm, GCH is not on or has not been run. 3. The boiler does fire on DHW mode (green light on) 4. During DHW mode, the...

No hot water from Worcester 25Si COMBI

The flow rate is about 8 litres / min and I don't think that there is a restriction. How would I test the thermister? Do they fail. Could it be the diverter valve failing?

No hot water from Worcester 25Si COMBI

My Worcester 25Si COMBI is not supplying the piping hot water it used to. It started playing up since I fitted a Salamander electrolytic limescale reducer. Possibly a red herring? The boiler is 4 years old. CH works fine but when I turn the tap on full, the boiler fires and I get red...
