Mains Water Stopcock - repair or replace

Thank you for the replies, hopefully a repair will be as suggested. I can isolate the house supply easy enough. I had/have some premonitions of the thing disintegrating as I tried to remove the nut and me being in the mire. I'll get a professional in and pay for the pleasure... Cheers

Mains Water Stopcock - repair or replace

1950's house, just uncovered the mains water stopcock in the utility room behind the sink unit, it is 3/4 inch iron (I think) and the stopcock is weeping from the gland and very stiff. It shuts down the flow around 95% but not completely. My preference would be to replace it but being 3/4...

Water pooling on concrete drive - drainage suggestions

That was the other thing I wondered about, the front garden is to the right as you can see in attached photo. That could be a good choice.

Water pooling on concrete drive - drainage suggestions

It's an early 50's house and only new as in I recently bought it. Annoyingly the other 3/4 of the same drive run away to the road without pooling so it is just the section shown.

Water pooling on concrete drive - drainage suggestions

I don't think it is clay but I can check that out, I could try a smaller hole and if that soaks away even slowly I can try a bigger one.

that is what I was thinking, or a slightly larger hole in the middle of the puddle area and inserting a metal grate.

Water pooling on concrete drive - drainage suggestions

Hi all, I have a problem in my new house which has a concrete drive, the section nearest the house pools water after it rains which means standing in a puddle when loading/unloading the cat boot etc. We will eventually look at e-laying the drive but for the medium term we need a way of...

    Using a 28mm x 300mm diamond core drill

Hi all, I need to drill a neat couple of holes through the side of a chimney breast to run some HDMI cables for a wall mounted TV. I am thinking of using a 28x300mm diamond core bit as the depth i need to drill is around 280mm. As these drills do not use guide bits I was wondering how...

    Lighting Puzzle

Gents, took on board the diagram tips, stuck with Visio as I know how to use it even though it is not easiest to use for this. I had mistakenly assumed the grey cable was to the switch which confused me and everyone else. Well done mfarrow for working out my mistake. Anyway, Have...

    Lighting Puzzle

Hi bAS, Told you it was a puzzle, I can confirm that what is in my diagram is what is in place both before and now. I accept that it looks wrong and that the functions of various wires might not match their colours. I suspect that it may be tied into what is in the adjacent room as the...
