    Draughty Upvc Window internal trim

Thanks for the tip, what if the gap is too small to squirt the foam down. I was thinking of using some kind of mastic then reattach trim, can anyone suggest the right type of mastic too use. On another thought could the outside air/wind get through to the cavity from cracks in the mortar. I...

    Draughty Upvc Window internal trim

DG fitters have said wind is blowing through cavity wall due to existing problem. Said there was mold behind the original windows when taken out explaining previous cold spot problem (I've posted different problem before). So basically its my fault for having a drafty cavity ! I have cavity...

    Draughty Upvc Window internal trim

Thanks for the reply Mw Roofline. That was going to be another question of mine that how can the wind blow in from the outside in the first place. We also have cavity wall insulation to I don't think there would be too much of a draught within the cavity. Its more localised to the trim area as...

    Draughty Upvc Window internal trim

Hi, quick question before I call out the DG fitters. Last year I had new DG fitted but have now noticed the are draughts on most of the windows coming from where the plastic internal trim has been fitted all around the internal walls. The trim is showing signs of coming away from the walls...

    Damp recess on new DG

Thanks for the reply, I'll have to get pictures at the weekend as I leave for work & get home whilst it is still dark at the moment. I could stick the camera out of the window & take some shots. No its not a flat roof above, gable end of house.

    Damp recess on new DG

Hi, I had the whole house fitted with new DG but now I have damp patches round one window, please see pictures. Any idea's? 1970's brick house with cavity wall insulation. Not much rain recently so could it be thermal bridging.

    New UPVC windows draughty

Thanks for the suggestion but the original bedroom windows with blowy curtains is fixed. The problem now is other windows, the drafts are only slight, not enough to blow a curtain. Getting video proof would not be so conclusive as they could say I was blowing or causing my own draft.

    New UPVC windows draughty

Update: Installers came & fixed the door dafts. Then for the windows all side hung openers had additional fixings put in (no I don't know what was done, this is what i've been told). Frames checked for bows, all okay. Some windows now seem okay but yesterday we had a strong easterly blowing...

    New UPVC windows draughty

Okay I'll keep the pressure on them to fix. Sorry if I'm going to give you flash backs  but can you show link for the lintel thread or rough date so I can search. I don't know whether to leave brickwork alone as previous 15 years was okay with plastic upvc windows i've just...

    New UPVC windows draughty

Crank39, thanks for the reply, really appreciate it. Hopefully the fitter will adjust the doors correctly, if not i'll be out with the allen key. The windows are just standard size in height though those locking wedges could offer a solution. I'll check if straight edge as well. One...
