    Capping off Gas Supply

The gas is off. I only put it on for the test (which was days ago), and that was really to try and figure out if it was definitely the cap and not a problem somewhere else in the pipe, in which case I would go for the re-do gas pipe work anyway. Anyway I watched the smart meter like a hawk and...

    Capping off Gas Supply

yes - but he did the test before the old tape etc was taken off. It was after that that he looked at the cap and said he couldn't just remove it (as it had been cut), and suggested the re-do gas pipes for the house completely was the best way to go

    Capping off Gas Supply

Yes he is gas-safe registered. It was a small leak when he came and tested (I feintly smelt it but wasn't certain and he could not smell it when he came in at all), and after the tape/gunk was cleaned off the cap is when I say I could hear and feel it. Now there is new tape, you can't smell...

    Capping off Gas Supply

I think because it was around that 0.4 / 4 mark so just a very slight leak, and at that point I needed a day or two to think about which option to go for, I'm still waiting to hear back from the other plumber and am keeping my fingers crossed he'll be able to remove and replace the cap.

    Capping off Gas Supply

Quick update - I wrapped some tape around it and put the gas back on to test - really can't smell anything at all! So at least I know that it's definitely just the cap and not a bigger issue with the pipes. I have someone coming tomorrow to see if he can replace the cap, and I'll ask him to do...

    Capping off Gas Supply

So assuming it is the cap rather than the underfloor pipe rotting, do you mean the cap could just be replaced/resealed without having to dig beneath the concrete?

    Capping off Gas Supply

Also yes I think it was cut to level it to the floor, the guy said he'd have to either excavate the concrete there to be able to cap it (or redo the whole gas supply). So do you mean that with the right tool it can be fixed without digging?

    Capping off Gas Supply

Do you mean then there would be no need to dig and it could just be re-capped/sealed it in some way? Also fyi the boiler was replaced around a year ago - not sure if that clarifies on the pipe you were talking about? Let me know if you need any more info

    Capping off Gas Supply

I have no idea.. do you mean the thing behind it? Here's a pic of the whole cupboard, and a slightly clearer one of the back. Any good?

    Capping off Gas Supply

I think it's just the cap - if I turn the gas on I can hear and feel it coming out of there. I can do a quick sketch if it helps - but basically the cooker and boiler would be on the right of the meter, and the (capped) gas fire on the left. I'll attach another pic in a mo..

    Capping off Gas Supply

Just goes straight into the floor, which I think is concrete.. That's not good is it?

    Capping off Gas Supply

Appliances - I have a boiler and gas cooker which are out of the gas meter cupboard and right, and the capped off gas fire which is out of the gas meter cupboard and straight and then left. Pipework at the meter - I've attached a pic, hopefully this gives you some info but let me know if you...

    Capping off Gas Supply

Thanks Chris, So by tee'd off supply you mean to dig and cap it where the pipe turns to head towards the gas meter? If so, any idea how deep that would be generally - an inch.. a foot?? Also - is there any way to trace this pipe back to the meter and cap it there? That way the end in the...

    Capping off Gas Supply

Hi all, I have a gas pipe which was capped off when our gas fire was removed many years ago. It's recently starting leaking a bit.. so I had a gas engineer round to seal/re-cap it somehow (don't worry the gas is completely off now so all safe!) Anyway the gas guy told me that the pipe has been...

    Tecnik oven won't turn on!!

thanks, it's a double oven and quite a big cooker, so thought I'd check re fuses... To reset the clock, I think you need to press two buttons at once - any idea which? I haven't got the manual and haven't had much luck trying to find one online, even the tecnik website is down for repair!

    Tecnik oven won't turn on!!

The light on the temperature knob does not come on at all so I'm thinking this might be an electrical/fuse issue rather than something to do with the timer/clock - Does anyone know whether the light would still come on (even though the oven doesnt) when it's on timer? Also anyone have any...

    Tecnik oven won't turn on!!

Thanks for the reply - the oven is actually my tenants and they've told me its not set to timer. Question - if it is on timer, the light should still come on right ?

    Tecnik oven won't turn on!!

Hi, I have a Tecnik oven (think the model number is TK0435) which has a gas cooker and electric oven. The cooker and the grill work fine, but the oven won't switch on - in fact the light doesnt even come on on the knob where you set the temperature. As the grill works, I guess this can't be...
