Creda Sunhouse 79362S storage heater overheating

Hi FP and B1, a bit of an update for you: I've been back to the property today, they say it was on again overnight and was again too hot to touch, more so than downstairs, so they switched it off in the night. It was still hot when I was there at the end of the day, although in my opinion was...

Creda Sunhouse 79362S storage heater overheating

Thanks for your replies. I'll confess that I haven't checked the temp myself, it's only on overnight obviously and with it being in the bedroom they're not using it now. They're not new to storage heaters and were saying it was unusually hot, but I'll confirm this with them now.

Creda Sunhouse 79362S storage heater overheating

Hi everyone, I'm a recently qualified electrician and I've been asked to look at a storage heater that's overheating. Getting too hot to touch apparently. I don't have any experience with storage heaters. Where do I start? I figure it should have a top limit thermostat. But this document...

    Switched fused connection in bathroom?

Hi everyone, I was in my sister's bathroom today and noticed that there is a fused switch for the boiler in there. Is that safe/allowed? So I've been googling it but can't quite find the answer. It's outside zone 2, but it's within 3m of the bath. That said, it's behind a big sort of cover which...

Compliance with IP rating on consumer unit

Thanks. I just push cables through these? Sounds easy. :)

Compliance with IP rating on consumer unit

I won't be inspecting and testing it myself no. But I know it needs it and will get it done. It's not the SWA. I've terminated that correctly I believe using a CW gland, including the banjo and earth fly. This question is for adding a circuit with standard 2.5mm t&e.

Compliance with IP rating on consumer unit

I've added a circuit to a consumer unit, the cable didn't fit through the existing hole, so I knocked a new in the top. In order to ensure it is IP4x, can I just use electrical tape to seal it? And if not, what product would you recommend? I don't know the name of the plastic thingy that goes in...

    Does this cable need burying?

I need to run a length of SWA along the back wall of the house. The route crosses the back door. It won't be very pretty to go up and over it. However, there is a recessed gap between the door threshold and the patio slab. Obviously it's in an area of foot traffic, but it would be visible and...

2 cold rads. TRVs seem fine and bled them. Please help!

Right. We'll give it a try tomorrow then. Happy Sundays! Will let you know how we get on.

2 cold rads. TRVs seem fine and bled them. Please help!

Yes I don't fancy keeping the other rads off much more as the boiler has started giving error lights and getting too hot I think. You suggested taking the rad off and opening valve at the end of the pipe. If we have to, then will do that. But one of these rads has a run off valve...

2 cold rads. TRVs seem fine and bled them. Please help!

Errr... not sure what you mean about 1 or 2 pipe system. But I can describe it to you. We have a 28 mm pipe for the main flow and another separate one for the return to the boiler. All of the rads (except these two problem rads) have their own smaller 15mm pipe from the main flow and...

2 cold rads. TRVs seem fine and bled them. Please help!

The system was at 1.2. We put a bit more in to see if it would help it round and it's now at 1.8. The boiler is an Ariston E-combi condensing 38kW.

2 cold rads. TRVs seem fine and bled them. Please help!

Hi! The pipework is all 15mm to the radiators, fed off the 28mm loop. And yes there's just one 15mm pipe that's common to both these rads. The rads everywhere else work fine. And we've checked and rechecked the valves both in and out of the problem rads and we're sure they're all open...

2 cold rads. TRVs seem fine and bled them. Please help!

Hi, Last year we fitted a new central heating system and through last winter it all worked fine. But now 2 of the downstairs radiators are cold. As far as we can reach them in the wall and the floor upstairs, the pipes running down to them are cold too. We've checked the TRVs and the pins...
