    great it started, it just proves put the wires in the wright place ie spade connector, and help from you guys, it was because the connectors were differant to the original starter that blow my brain,thanks again neil

    i connected the small switch wire to the right hand thread and nut, will put it on the spade connector, from what you say that should be wright,

    just a throught, in between the two threads on the solinoid is a spade connector. would that be used for anything :?:

    put the switch wire onto the right hand thread on the solinoid, bingo the starter turns, trouble is that is all it does, it wizzes round on the turn of the key, but doesnt actually turn the engine, i assume it isnt engaged with the fly wheel, any suggestions :idea: neil

    comming back to the sloinoid, the is no secound wire running into the bowels of the starter, also as i said ive changed the pos and switch wire, whats cofusing me is the replacment cables came with a connector with the main pos and the switch wire connected to the solinoid next to each other...

    i was bering very carefull about the way i connected the pos, but it could have been possible the lead might have been touching the body of the starter when i put it on the switch connection and of course that would cause it to spark , will check battery tomoz am i wright there is a main relay...

    the jump leads are a good set, good thick ones in full woking order, u may be right about where i am connecting pos lead, the one im using is the large pos on the left of starter looking at it insitu, which one should it be connected too,the only other connections r a one on the back with a red...

    just tried putting the jump leads on anouther car and putting the the pos on the starter, neg on battrires conected to give earth through other car, still no life in starter, so it looks like it will have to come off again at least it is easy to do, not like the parero ive got. neil
