    Vaillant ecoTEC 937 not repressurising

hi, I have just bled all my radiators and have lost pressure on the radiator system to 0.6 bar, just below the 0.7bar required for the central heating to fire. There are two grey valves beneath the boiler for repressurizing I have turned both to the on position (and tried every possible...

anti mould painting solution for wooden beams

hi, I have an extension in my kitchen with white wooden beams. Due to condensation, mould is growing on the beams. I am repainting and want to apply the best anti mould solution. I am considering a water based outside paint (dulux weather shield plus anti mould additive) which should...

cabinet hinge for a super thick door

thanks, the pivot point of the hinge can be outside the cabinet rather than hidden inside as with typical cabinet hinges. Do you have a picture/link of a crank hinge? this

Connecting worktops with vertical 90 degree joint

Hi I have a 40mm walnut hardwood worktop. I wish to give the kitchen a 'boxed' feel so at the end of the units, I wish to run a 27mm thick piece of worktop down to the floor. This will mean joining a 27mm worktop to a 40mm worktop at right angles vertically down to the floor. The...

Hi Can anyone tell me where I can get a cheap jig for cutting just the holes for the bolts that join worktops. All the jigs I have found are expensive and can be used to cut the entire worktop in may different ways I just want to cut a bolt hole and don't want to pay £100plus for a jig that...

running a heavy load on a fused spur

Consensus was that it was not safe and FCU could spontaneously combust.

running a heavy load on a fused spur

ok, guys thanks for the replies. Although exasperated, I really appreciate it. Having done a bit of research, I have stumbled on RCBOs, combined MCBs and RCDs. I replaced all my old fuses with MCBs a while back, which just clipped in. Do RCBOs fit in the same way? Would anyone...

running a heavy load on a fused spur

I'm not sure as a dIyer, it makes any difference. If I conduct any work on the circuit without an RCB, my insurance could be invalid or worse, if the new owner of the house fries, then I am toast. If I leave it alone, I claim complete lack of knowledge and blame the previous sparky/owner...

running a heavy load on a fused spur

here's the irony. Tell me if I'm reading it wrong. If I do nothing, then I have a potentially dangerous setup but legal. If I improve the radial 2.5mm with a ring, but no RCD, the setup is illegal. talk about perverse incentives

running a heavy load on a fused spur

No, there is no RCD. It is an old CU where the fuses have been replaced by clip in MCBs.

running a heavy load on a fused spur

Ok, I had a look a the CU and there is one 32A 2.5mm radial circuit that supplies one double socket at the other end of the basement. My new plan is to replace this radial with a 32A 2.5mm ring that supplies this socket, the washer dryer and a freezer. The washer dryer will be moved so that...

running a heavy load on a fused spur

thanks. This has occurred to me as well. As the appliances are right next to the CU, is it advisable to use considerably more cable than the distance requires, just so the ring is balanced and doesn't just draw on one leg?
