I normally have the TRV set to 5, maximum, and the noise is audible. When I reduce to around 3/4 the noise increases, while going under 3 seems to turn the unit off since the noise disappears. Although when the unit comes back on the noise returns.

There doesnt appear to be any arrows on either of the two chrome areas, but the end with the 3 warms up first. The boiler is a Potterton Promax Combi HE Plus
