Instant electric water heater for shower and sink

I stumbled across this whilst looking for something else and thought I'd update it in case it's of benefit to someone else looking to do the same. I installed an Ariston Aures 9.5kw in the end and haven't looked back. It's been faultless. The water here is (literally!) freezing at the moment...

Pump pressure switch and pump contamination

This is the tank: http://www.varem.com/pressure-tanks-for-potable-water-booster Their entire range of potable water tanks is red. What's the colour got to do with it?

Pump pressure switch and pump contamination

For the sake of anyone else reading this with the same problem I'd better finish it off... As I suspected there was sediment clogging the pressure switch. I realised that what I thought was a threaded spigot on the pump housing was actually union and when I removed it I found the hole in it was...

Pump pressure switch and pump contamination

Not the greatest pic but you can just about see the pressure switch (black box attached to the pump) and just behind it the gauge.

Pump pressure switch and pump contamination

Quick update... Managed to find a replacement pressure switch and got it delivered next day (thank you RS components!). Drained the tank. Checked the pressure on the air side - next to nothing. Suspected bladder failure (which is a surprise because I haven't had any symptoms like surging or air...

Pump pressure switch and pump contamination

Hi, I'm on a private water supply. I have a water pump and 60L pressure vessel with a particle filter and UV treatment system in line (before the pump obviously). The setup was installed when I bought the house and I've always thought the pump running wasn't right. It seemed to run a long time...

    In line extractor for hob

I'd not heard that. I thought the filter stopped the fan, ducting/vent etc. from getting gummed up with grease. If that doesn't happen or they are designed to withstand it then great. Makes life much easier.

    In line extractor for hob

I have an induction hob. I also had an extractor fan before I refurbished the kitchen. I used the extractor fan all the time to remove the steam and cooking smells. Now I don't have an extractor and every time I cook, the house fills with steam and cooking smells. So I am in no doubt I need an...

    Getting rid of rats

Whatever you decide to do please do not use poison. The rat dies then gets eaten by other animals, like birds of prey, who also die. Air rifle is definitely the best way. And when you're not killing rats you can get the lads round and shoot beer cans in the garden!

    In line extractor for hob

As an alternative to the traditional bulky noisy hob extractor unit above the hob I would like to install an in-line extractor fan. The idea is to have the fan motor unit out of the way above the cupboards or ceiling and just a compact(ish) vent over the hob. I'm wondering if anyone has done...

Instant electric water heater for shower and sink

Okay thanks. I'm surprised 9kw showers are only seen as tolerable or limited. I've never had any complaints with those I have used - including the one currently installed in my house.

Instant electric water heater for shower and sink

Out of interest I just tested my current shower and it supplied 3L in 1 minute. I suspect that is on the lower side of normal (I'm on a private water supply, the pressure varies, the pressure is low at the moment, I suspect I'd get a higher flow rate when the pump recharges, yes I do know the...

Instant electric water heater for shower and sink

Why would a 9.5kw water heater be limited in its performance but a 9.5kw shower not? The shower and the water heater are the same thing inside. Yes the flow rate needed for the shower is lower but the water heater is going to supply a flow rate the same as the shower. So there's no difference...

Instant electric water heater for shower and sink

Why wouldn't it? An electric shower is just an instant hot water heater with a shower head on the end. I'm looking at this one at the moment: https://www.redring.co.uk/product/rp1-powerstream-95kw. It specifically says it can supply a shower and bathroom sink. Bizarrely it says it is not for...

Instant electric water heater for shower and sink

Without boring you with all the details I do not have a hot water boiler or hot water tank in my house and I don't intend to install either. I have an electric shower in the bathroom (which needs replacing) and a boiling water tap in the kitchen. The only thing I am missing at the moment is hot...

Oil boiler locked out... can't get it working

Quick update, did as suggested - opened up the filters, cleaned them, checked for flow, put it all back together again. Hey presto, it seems to be working. When things go wrong for me it's NEVER usually such an easy fix so I'm convinced I was lucky and it won't last! Thank you as ever for your...

Oil boiler locked out... can't get it working

Woke up to a cold house this morning. Red lock out light on control panel and on burner. Suspected frozen water in oil filter/line (minus 5 degrees and 4 inches of snow here) so poured boiling water over the filter housing and pipes and gave it a moment to warm up. Pressed the reset button on...

Oil combi boiler hot water capacity

My shower is already electric. I would prefer to convert it to a thermostatic mixer which is why my first choice is a combi boiler but it is looking more and more like that's not an option. Other than that it's it's just two sinks - bathroom and kitchen. I'm replacing the kitchen shortly and...

Oil combi boiler hot water capacity

MUGGLES! Back from Finland then? ;) So cutting to the chase, the only way to get continuous hot water without it losing temperature is a big combi? Which for me means going external because there isn't room in the house. The alternative is a small CH only boiler that can be hung on the wall.
