    No its not a trimmer joist. There are intermediate supports so the maximum span is about 8 ft. This is the ground floor of a 100 yr old house.

    Thanks for the quick responses! Yes the pipes go through the joists vertically. Joists are 100x50 (4x2), and the holes are about 17mm, so that still leaves about 33mm of "solid" joist. May not be a problem, just wanted to be sure. Cheers.
