    Re-Build Porch possible asbestos

Hi there. Do a quick search on t'interweb. I believe Ruberoid is a branding. As with all asbestos its best to define the type. sheet, lagging etc. and then take action from there as that will define how its handled. As with all things asbestos treat it with respect, wear protection, try not...

    Channel in ceiling - tips?

I was speaking to my father (plumbing and heating engineer) about this just the other week. I asked how he dealt with chipboard floors. Lift the carpet and set the depth on your circular saw and cut the access you need. In from the top is less messy surely.

    Do you use RatedPeople?

I use RatedPeople as a trademan. Starting out doing painting I had no rep other than friends and family so decided I would use RP to buy some leads. Agreed just thin down normal emulsion. You can get new plaster primer paints but thinning is just as effective and cheaper.

ceiling: lining with paper or plastering?

we had all our ceilings plastered (apart from living room and dining DOH!) for a better look. they had some bobbly artex pattern. As long as you get a decent plasterer you will get a better finish than lining paper and be much happier you paid a little extra now for the plaster option. my...

    Emulsion that won't dry!

Time will be your friend on this one. as others have mentioned get some air circulating and just wait for it to dry. Also a fan of the help of heat. Doesn't have to be baking but certainly not so cold you can see your breath as it is now!

    Paintbrushes

Not had any problems with Harris myself. Also had surprisingly good results using B&Q select fine brushes (ones with the black and white handle and white tipped bristles) for glossing trim.
