Some combis use a flow switch to activae the igniotion for hw (direct combi and no dhw heat ex) or a lot use a diverter valve (and microswitch) with a plate heat exchanger to heat up the hot water (indirect) - but this one uses both - my query was why? or what's the advanatge!

i know how it fires up but usually with a diverter there's a microswitch that it trips - just wondered why this boiler had both a DHW flow switch AND a diverter valve!

What's the point / advanatge of having both a DHW flow switch and a 3 way diverter valve on this combi? I just wondered while looking through the manual - I have known some to use both - but just wondered what the point/advantage was really?

how much would it cost roughly to go out with a breakdown engineer ? I understand it's their knowledge and experience.

Quite sad isn't it that someone who really wants to become a good breakdown engineer and have a chance of getting a job with a firm, can't get any experience with a pro! I've done everything on my own that I can, studied books/manuals/dvds over 2 years, got hold of an old boiler to test/take...

thanks for your replies all i do know how to test components, using a multimeter etc and operation sequence etc of boilers - i just need to be more confident i suppose.

thanks i will do - what if you get a job but then have a few problems - that is what i'm a bit wary of - will they expect you to be a super breakdown engineer!!! ?

i agree with ehat you say! so do you think i have a chance of being ok! as you say you need to do it, but just seems a bit scary at first depending on what the problem is! any tips?!
