How to build brick pillar between windows

Great suggestions, thanks. Not heard of wind posts before. Do normal builders merchants do them? Can't see any at screwfix.

How to build brick pillar between windows

Thanks for the replies but I do need to build the pillar as I am dividing a room in half and the stud wall will join onto the pillar. I could make it slightly wider than a brick width if there is any advantage in doing that. I did see the brick ties for sale in Screwfix but I wasn't sure if...

How to build brick pillar between windows

I need to build a brick pillar in an existing window opening but I can't work out what kind of brick pattern to use. Basically I'm taking out an existing UPVC window, building up a brick pillar in the middle of the opening, ideally about 1 brick width across, and then fitting 2 new smaller...

    Halogen bulbs keep going off

Thanks for the suggestion of de-oxit, I will give it a try. Not cheap though is it. I'm wondering if some Maplin contact cleaner will do the job as it's much cheaper. http://www.maplin.co.uk/contact-cleaner-25340?c=froogle&u=25340&t=module Maybe I'm just too much of a tight wad all round.

    Halogen bulbs keep going off

I seem to be spending all my time running round replacing halogen bulbs at the moment, G9, G4 and MR16. I put a new one in and within a few weeks it goes off again. I'm not even convinced they are blown as sometimes they come back on after a poke, although usually not. Is it cos I'm buying...

How to prepare dusty Walls and floor

Is that also the best way to paint a newly plastered wall? I always though it should be sealed first.

How to prepare dusty Walls and floor

I've got a dusty brick garage that I'm trying to tidy up with a new lick of emulsion paint on the walls and some floor paint on the concrete floor.  The dust on the walls is mainly brick dust from building work that we've had done, but the concrete floor has always been dusty.    Whats the...

Drain Gully Bubbles When Toilets Are Flushed

Thanks for the reply, you were spot on. I lifted the manhole cover at the end of our drive and found it was almost full to the top! After I got it to drain away with a bit of rodding I found that a few bits of brick and rubble had fallen off the inside of the chamber and blocked off the pipe...

Drain Gully Bubbles When Toilets Are Flushed

I have a drain gully at the back of the house which is just used for sinks to drain into, but recently it has started to bubble up a couple of times whenever a toilet is flushed in the house. I'm not sure if this is relevant but I've tried poking a stick into the drain and it seems to have a...

New Sink Waste Coming Out of Bath Plug Hole?

Great, thanks for that. Should I also get an AAAV for the bath?

New Sink Waste Coming Out of Bath Plug Hole?

I'm planning on moving my sink in the bathroom to be near the bath and I want to connect the sink waste to the bath waste to reuse the same outlet through the wall for both. I'm worried that if I do that, when I pull the sink plug out, some of the water will wash up into the bath through the...
