    Cable routing - flat roof

I think I'll opt to tell the customer that it's not viable without disruption to the house. Thanks for your responses.

    Cable routing - flat roof

Thanks both  I could ask the question of whether outside is an option. Failing that, can you conduit across the flat roof (so out of the side of the garage, up and over the flat roof, up the side of the house?) This option just seems a bit naff, given that when the flat roof is replaced...

Hi All Firstly, sorry for the long post but wanted to give some background. A customer has asked for a newly built conservatory/extension to have power supplied: 4x sockets and a light. The original plans were for for the kitchen RFC to be spurred from to provide the required supply.The...

Hi All A customer has requested an outside up/down light be installed to the front of a building to replace an old existing bulkhead. The light is currently positioned approx 4 metres high and the supply cable is 1.5mm T&E clipped direct. They do not want brickwork to be drilled to allow...

    Storage Heater Repair

Hi all - Just as an update. The heater had worked correctly for two nights but has failed again unfortunately. I tested the heater as per the above instructions and all was fine and I was getting the correct readings before I had reinstalled the heater. I have opted to replace the internal...

    Storage Heater Repair

Thanks for your responses. Yes, working as in getting hot and I agree, it doesn't make sense. Thank you for your response iggifer.. That does make sense to me however the component on the left hand side shows a voltage a 240v and is wired in the same way as the right hand component (series)...

    Storage Heater Repair

It doesn't twist off or anything.. However, I did just pull and push the black button repeatedly to see if it would loosen up... Reconnected the heater and it has powered up. When I tested voltage across the left component, I got 240v yet across the right hand component, I didn't get a reading...

    Storage Heater Repair

I'm not 100% sure on the name, sorry (I actually came across an image on an old thread on here with a picture of the same heater, and they had said it was that model number within the thread //www.diynot.com/diy/threads/sector-storage-heater-cutout-assembly-broken.420859/ ) The one on the...

    Storage Heater Repair

Thank you for your response. I have tried pressing the black button but it doesn't move at all? Could it be jammed or simply require a replacement?

    Storage Heater Repair

Hi all. I've reviewed the forum and tried to find information about a particular component that I require within a storage heater that I am attempting to repair, but am struggling to find anything and so I apologise in advance if this is a duplicate of an existing thread. The storage heater...

upstairslights do'nt work when i turn off the bedroom light?

Ok that's great thal you. Wherre do I physically put the switch wires then if one is in the wrong Place? Is it possible to determine which wires are to switch cables, without the use of testing equiptment? My concern is that I won't know which cable is the switch live if they arn't marked?

Wiring into an external garage one meter from house?

I know! I can't believe the question I asked has brought about such a lengthily debate - I did try to follow and learn as much as possible but eventually I began to get lost. OK so I think I will stick to the originally stated plan of coming from an FCU into SWA rather than going straight...

Wiring into an external garage one meter from house?

Ok that sounds good. So if I were to run 2.5mm cable off a 30a CB in the CU, to a junction box (needs to be rated I presume?) to SWA cable outside and into the garage into a 13a FCU then onto a 5a Switched FCU for lighting? Is there any advise on wiring into a CB in a new consumer unit...

Wiring into an external garage one meter from house?

Thanks Paul that really has helped! The garage will not be used for heavy machinery, maybe just a plug in drill - maybe a heater in the winter and a car buffer as its only to work on a car. Will 13amps for the garage itself be adequate?

Wiring into an external garage one meter from house?

Hello all, In all honesty I'm lost with the current discussion. Providing this doesn't affect the insurance I will be going ahead with the work. Can I ask however, if you could look at the installation I was originally questioning. It was to run off the ring main with an FCU (13a)...
