Thanks for the answers. They go both ways. The problem is that one of the radiators is a towel rail and the valve, being on the return, only shuts when the radiator is full. By that time the thing is too hot to touch.

we've had 2 new radiators fitted with thermostatic valves and in both cases, the plumber has put the valve on the return side rather than on the flow side. Am I right in thinking this is wrong and that it should refit the valve on the flow side as all our other radiators are done ? Thanks in...
