Started opening up my fireplace - couple of issues

Cheers, that would work actually. Can you think of a reason why they are built like that? It had an open fire with a fireback which I smashed out.

Started opening up my fireplace - couple of issues

Started knocking out my fireplace, I thought I could knock it out bigger but I then realised I was into the cavity - so I stopped and will have to patch it up. I have an external chimney. I'm just wondering if I can just remove these 2 rows of bricks on the bottom? Looks like they are actually...

Adding plug socket in airing cupboard

Hi all thanks for the replies and sorry for my late one. I've taken some additional pictures which I'm hoping may help a bit more. The round 3 pin plug looks like this: I'm wondering if the fuse next to it is connected to it: The 3 pin plug is connected to this pump : The pump was...

Adding plug socket in airing cupboard

I recently fitted a shower pump for the en suite which obviously needs power - I thought the plug already in there was a normal one and I coukd simply put an adapter in to power the pump however after fitting I pulled the plug out to discover it was a wierd type I'd never seen before! I'm...

Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

Just to add to this, I spoke to numerous plumbers who couldn't do it and directed me to various electricians who couldn't/ wouldn't do it. I've decided to give up on the Hive altogether and cut my losses. I would still like to separate my heating and hot water. Do I now need a 3 port valve to...

Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

The mechanical timer I have is basically on, off or on timer, there is no way of turning hot water on or off separately so when it comes on it heats the water up as well as turning all the radiators on. If I turn the dial on this all the way off to 0 : Then it turns the heating off. I can...

Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

The heating comes on 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening, it is impossible to stop this from happening because of the way you change the time on the time switch. When the heating is on you can hear the hot water cylinder running in the airing cupboard. If I turn the thermostat...

Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

This is my hot water cylinder : I take it that's the pump? So is my system fully pumped? If so would the wiring be different to connect?

Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

Do you have to be so rude, I'm asking a question I don't know the answer to. It may sound simple to some people but I like to make sure I know exactly what I'm doing before I attempt it. If you don't have anything constructive to say then please don't bother replying to my thread.

Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

I understand this now, I need to check continuity of the wires using the resistance settings (buzzer or 200) then disconnect and enclose in a plastic connector? How can I check if it is fully pumped? I have had a look at pictures online but cannot find anything to refer to. There is something...

Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

This may sound daft but if I disconnect the thermostat downstairs will I be able to pull on the wire to get it out that way? The house was built in 1992, I was surprised it didn't have a combi but a previous plumber said it may be because it has 3 bathrooms and 14 radiators and this system was...

Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

Thanks for the quick and detailed reply. I bought the house 2 years ago - it is 27 years old and I presume the central heating system and Danfoss was fitted when built. I have cold water tank in attic, hot water cylinder in bedroom along with Danfoss and Gloworm boiler in garage. So as I...

Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

Oh right I understand now, so I will have to call an electrician in to rewire terminal 1 into 2 wires. Seems others have managed to wire in their hive based on your answers but mine seems a bit more technical. Thanks for everyone's help with this, worth a try I guess. Cheers

Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

So you are saying leave the thermostat connected? What would be the process to have just hot water on the the hive then, turn the thermostat right down each time? Cheers

Sorry I wasn't saying he wasn't, I meant shall I call a local electrician. Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

Thanks for your reply, I have read a few of your answers to queries. I am aware there will be limitations - I just want it working so I can have the hot water on independently. I know the hot water will come on with the central heating. I want to be able to heat the hot water up without the...

Another Hive Wiring Issue...Gravity Fed Dandoss 103 to Dual channel Hive

Hi all, I have referred to many threads on here regarding installation of a dual channel Hive. I bought the necessary Hive and know it needs to be set to gravity fed. I took the front of the Danfoss 103 to reveal this : This is what is behind the Danfoss 103 panel : The Danfoss...

Having trouble replacing ceiling light with spotlamps

Ah right so I've obviously mixed the red wire that isn't used with the red wire that is ? I had to pull the round plastic connector that the wires connect to off so I could get the light to attach to the ceiling.
